The only issue is it's 110 miles per day total mileage.
The pay is the same as I get paid here and I travel 8 miles a day total mileage. I get a company car in the new position (£150 a month pre tax salary deduction) but fuel isn't included (except for training courses etc). They have suggested they would put me in the most fuel efficient car possible (and then my choice of Range Rover/Land Rover for the weekend:D) but this could still see me paying £350 per month in fuel.
I don't have an issue with the driving as the journey is easy, and it's a job I really want to do. After the interview I really feel like I can make a difference there and fix their problems they're having so it's a real head/heart decision!!!
I haven't been offered the job yet and will have to go for a second interview anyway which will be my opportunity to air these concerns and suggest a compromise.
Any comments or suggestions anyone?
Is it 5 days a week?If so, the commuting time will probably start to take its toll after a few months and become more of a pain than having to fork out the £350!
If you are on flexi time it might be easier (start early, end early or start late end late to avoid the worst of the traffic.)
A hard decision, but if its a job you really want maybe relocation may be a better option in the end, depending on your circumstances of course.0 -

Hi all!
Been really lazy and bored today so here's all I've done thus far:-
- Checked online banking
- Checked emails
- Watched 2 episodes of Bones (love that show!)
- Walked the dog with great difficulty because of the ice/snow
- Eaten a homemade hot X bun
- Put my clean washing away
- Watched more TV
- Gave the neighbour's their parcel that came when they were out
And the things I will do before the day is over and tomorrow are...
- Have some dinner (from home, no takeaway or anything like that)
- Clean the bathroom
- Tidy rest of my bedroom
- Watch Pirates of the Caribbean as it's on BBC 3 later
- Clean kitchen from top to bottom
- Tidy living room
Doesn't sound that exciting but I actually quite enjoy cleaning up the house as it makes you feel good once it's done and it's a bit of a workout too.
Hope everyone has a great weekend

Hey Josiebabie,
My advice would be to go for the job if it's something you really want to do. Money is important, but you have to be doing a job you love as you're at work most of the day/week (as much as that's a slightly depressing fact!)
I recently left a well paid job for my age (23 - £20k a year) to working as an Apprentice in a nursery (£106 per week). I'm guessing I'm in a different boat to you as I live at home, but I followed my heart and went for it. I'm sure it'll all work out for you and fingers crossed you get it!

Josie, I agree with the others that I'd probably take the job - even though the commute might take it's toll you could put the extra travel time to good use by maybe listening to audio books (if you like that sort of thing of course!) and it sounds like it's a step up you won't get where you are which may lead to a further step up and more salary so then there may not be any or much difference salary wise.
Mind you, this is coming from someone unhappy in her job! xI want to be a writer0 -
Managed to go to WR and stick to list! Came in not far under what I had to spend basing tonight on £40 (hoping its cheaper than that). Was very strict with myself but cannot forgo the daily mail on a sat as I like the tv guide!!!!
Also walking tonight now as a friend just text to say they were walking so no petrol costs (even though it's only up the road anyway) and a walk out.
Am determined to drag myself out for a run in the morning - am finding I don't even want to leave the house at the weekends and that's not good - starting to border on reclusive. Plus, means will burn calories and get fresh air whilst listening to positive tunes and admiring fantastic scenery!
And I cleaned the bathroom - which was scuzzy so that feels good!I want to be a writer0 -

Wow! Well done:T Have a lovely eveningjosiebabie wrote: »The only issue is it's 110 miles per day total mileage.
Putting the money side of it away just now .... what sort of journey is it?
I used to commute 130 miles / day (not by choice was made redundant from old job and it was the one I was offered!)
I was very lucky as I managed to get a lift 3 days so only had to drive it myself the other 2 but .... it was really tiring (and I was much younger in those days :rotfl:)
I had a mix of single track, hilly/twisty B roads, A roads and motorway and then city streets - if it was motorway all the way, it would be a LOT easier!
I wouldn't do it again .... also, as Karb says, it really eats into your work / life balance - losing a good 2 hours each day .....
