Hi everyone. Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday.
Well the rain fairly hammered down last night washing away the snow and ice. Wish I hadn't bothered shovelling the paths yesterday morning now. The only ice left is the pile by the side of the road where I put what I'd shovelled! One unexpected bonus was the number of coins I found while walking the dog. The park where I usually walk her is on a big hill, and is very popular with sledgers. I assume that money has fallen out of people's pockets into the snow and been lost until the snow melted. I finished up with 86p
My next door neighbour's brother in law came round to fix the jammed lock on the conservatory door. Still cost me £50 but would have been double that if it was someone I didn't know.
The meat for our sunday dinner ended up being sausages. Though to be honest, the kids like that at least as much as a roast. I still did the mash, yorkshires, veg and gravy. Tea will be from stores so a relatively cheap Sunday for us.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -

Hi Everyone
Josie - well done on your award, how wonderful to be recognised. I didnt answer your request for help regarding the possible new commute - mainly because I commuted for a lot of years and am grateful every day now that I have a local job only 20 minutes away. But, as someone else said, I think it depends on your circumstances and your age! Im sure you will make the right decision for you and your family.
Karb - that sounds like a wonderful sunday lunch to me!
So, Ive had a really nice weekend doing chores and finishing my book (will start the next one today). I joined a local book club a few months ago and have met some lovely people and read a lot of books I otherwise wouldnt have!
My list for today:-
walk dog
make stew for dinner
empty/reload dishwasher
1 load of washing
bit of ironing
check bank and budget
I have to confess that I have ordered 2 new tops and 2 skirts online for work. I am hopefully getting a promotion around March time and just wanted to smarten myself up a bit for work really to help my confidence. On the plus side, I had some vouchers so I only spent around £50 (have the money in savings). So, assuming the items fit when I get them, I will be very happy. I ordered 2 items from M&S online and 2 from Next online but am getting them delivered to the stores near where I work so I dont have to pay delivery charge.
I think thats it for me. Im going to catch up on a bit of tv then have a bath and settle down with my new book for the evening.
Have a great day all.

walked with my friend so free exercise, amazing scenery and lovely chatter to boot. Plus she brought me a piece of cake from last night - it was so huge I've cut it into 2 so had one bit just now and will have the other bit in the week as a treat.
Now settling down to the desperate housewives box set my friends bought me for my birthday back in september but I hadn't yet opened - brilliant NSD!I want to be a writer0 -
Hello all,
I have been absent for a week or so as I have been preparing for our internal review at work so been so so busy and not had time to post...but, I'm here now

- Meal planned for the next 3 weeks.
- Shopping list written which WILL be stuck to.

Hi all, hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I was fast asleep by 9pm last night and as today has been spent at work NSD for me.
Had breakfast at home and avoided spending £1 on the shift sunday breakfast. Lunch was also brought in from home and am using up what I can before I go and do another food shop. Really scraping the barrel now till payday on Thursday its been a long month.
Will have to get fuel tommorrow for the next two shifts but hoping to arrange a short term car share soon for a couple of months."The greatest wealth is health"

Hi,
It's been a bit of a boring day here, haven't really done much - just chilling out with the bf. We had a film night last night, went to Asda and got cheap snacks for £2.30 and stayed in and watch a film (film was hilariously bad! but was better/cheaper than going to the cinema!)
List for today:- updated app for snacks spend, got a work lunch tomorrow which I'll have to pay for (its not an official one but the whole dept is going out because its payday so dont want to be left out. Going somewhere with tastecard so I doubt it will be over £5)
- checked bank - all ok
- made myself a snack bag for work tomorrow so i can resist going to the shop in the afternoon!
Still to do:- Need to sort out my washing
- Quick tidy about
- Do 1 section of ACCA ethics
- look into going on a holiday this year - i know this wont be great for debt etc but im going to put money aside each month for it. I should be quite cheap, looking at £50 for flights, £50 for car hire, £100 for spending money.

I'm joining in the NSD and weekly spend challenges. Going for 20 NSDs in Feb, and £30 limit for next week.
Hope everyones had a good weekend

Evening all,
Thanks for starting us off Josie, I think moving a bit closer is a good idea if you are able to. Congratulations on the awards, & good luck with the second interview.
I can't get over how busy the thread is this weekend, welcome back to the "oldies" as in old posters, not old age wise! Hope life has treated you kindly in your absence.
Welcome to all the "newbies" too.
I've not been very MSE lately as it was our "Christmas Do" on Friday, in London again so pricey as the food on offer was terrible, & apparently the abundant free wine was not enough...but I am trying to make up for it now!
I have/will:-
- B/L/D from stores
- Been to second job last night, drove there & back so could not spend & received money for Friday night as well, yay for holiday pay!
- DH switched our joint account over to Hal1fax on Saturday & later on we will add me to it, yay for a free £100 & £5 a month!
- Checked postcode lottery
- Charged phone via pc
- Heating off as long as possible & on low when needed
- Checked online banking
- Entered some comps
- Picked DH up from friend's house last night, saving taxi fare
- Listed 9 things for sale on fleabay
- Had a buyer collect something today but 1 of them is broken...I don't know if it was broken before or in transit so have agreed to refund that item
£6.20 down...Just feel so stupid as I should have got the buyer to check it when they arrived! - Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Log calories using free app
- Check Gumtree & the FB selling group if I've been accepted yet
- Continue reading household diary thread & making my own freezer inventory/filofax sheets etc.
- Do some surveys
- "Free" guitar lessons on Rocksm1th
- Make up a HM porridge pot for work tomorrow
- Help DH apply for a new job, with a huge payrise! Here's hoping...
- Washing on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid
- Hang up to dry
- Look in paper for new job

Well it has been quite a successful weekend.
My sudden trip to London to take my DM and friend to concert was a bit cheaper as my DS (who is spitting image of me) booked my Cinema ticket on her cinema account so didnt have to pay for ticket so saved £10. Had lunch where main course was £6, choose a starter for £1.20 and a glass of wine for £1.90 so was a nice treat. As my DS had booked tickets for DM for christmas and I ended up taken them she paid my petrol. Watched Les Mis and loved it, and feeling brave enough to venture to cinema on own more.
Was meant to post on here this morning but had lie in due to late night and then went to my DF to sort out some bits for him. Ex OH (who we are trying the dating again to see if it works) came with me. On way back he treated me to lunch so saved another meal. Whilst there we got talking about debt etc which seemed to be a major contributer to our decade long relationship biting the dust. Talked about how much we wasted and agreed that it needs to be changed. Asked him how he felt about if we were to try again at some point in future, not going out every weekend but instead trying a pizza and film night etc. Overall he seemed really willing to make changes which he hadnt before. I came home feeling really good.
So far today have:
Had log burner on with the log fuel ex OH got me to try which was good, and burnt for 2 hours and better than kindling.
Done a load of washing
Put washing on airer in hot front room by log burner to dry.
Wasnt really hungry so just cooked couple of slices of garlic bread from freezer.
Written list of things to do tomorrow as working from home and want to get loads done, including setting Feb targets and budgets.
Done my swagging
Applied to join another survey company and mystery shopping site.
Fed the dogs bones from butcher
Now going to get nice hot bath, read my book, have a glass of red wine left over from friday night treat, then bed early in order to get up tomorrow early and get on with my list. :jAPR NSD - 0/10
Paid off in 2013 so far £125.00
April Money made - £18.000
