hey all. Feel like I've been a bit naughty this morning in not yet really getting going but then it was also nice just to sit in bed drinking coffee and reading newspaper online/reading book!

    Today I have/will:

    - heat up last nights philly pasta for lunch
    - go to supermarket having planned meals for next week and made a list and try to stick to it!
    - can't avoid spends tonight as out for 2 x friends birthdays but I'll drive as it's cold and also not drinking so am only paying for food - one has texted this morning to ask if we can set menu as apparently chinese v busy = fine although I think that particular restaurant is a rip off for set menu but then again will be 25/30 and no more as am not drinking
    - will avoid town shops (have been doing this for weeks now)
    - not rent or buy a dvd and instead watch stuff on planner or one of the many dvds/boxsets I''ve not yet looked at
    - tempted to turn heating temp down a bit for when it comes on now that weather has improved
    - dry washing on airer

that's about it - have a good day all!

Ziggy - hope you feel better soon
Josie - well done on the award - hope you have a great night!

I'm another that hasn't been around for a while - just too busy at work and with the rest of life. I must make more time though or financially things will get more difficult again.
    So here I am!

    Today's list...
    • Done the weekly shop for £19 - not too bad
    • Paid cheques into the bank
    • One cheque from dog insurers went straight off the CC, the other one from NPower was for £50 and got split between £20 for the bedroom fund, £20 for the holiday fund and £10 for treats for me
    • Took library books back - was convincd they were due today but it was yesterday and so had a 30p fine:mad:
    • Bought a couple of things in Holland and Barratt in the penny sale - why don't they just do BOGOF like everyone else?:rotfl: Total spend £2.70
    • Parked in a secret parking space that only costs 10p
    • Walked the dog in the slushy snow and ice this morning, will take him to the park this afternoon
    • Just about to clean the whole house
    • One load of washing tonight
    • Making tea from bits in the fridge
    • Staying in tonight - might watch a movie on box office, or find one already recorded
    • Will join up with the Feb NSD challenge
That's about it for today - have a good afternoon!

Right ladies (and Karb if you're around) I need some help with something. This job interview I went for is the next step up in my career - a position that I'm not going to get where I currently am and to be fair, very rarely come up at all. The only issue is it's 110 miles per day total mileage.

The pay is the same as I get paid here and I travel 8 miles a day total mileage. I get a company car in the new position (£150 a month pre tax salary deduction) but fuel isn't included (except for training courses etc). They have suggested they would put me in the most fuel efficient car possible (and then my choice of Range Rover/Land Rover for the weekend:D) but this could still see me paying £350 per month in fuel.

I don't have an issue with the driving as the journey is easy, and it's a job I really want to do. After the interview I really feel like I can make a difference there and fix their problems they're having so it's a real head/heart decision!!!

I haven't been offered the job yet and will have to go for a second interview anyway which will be my opportunity to air these concerns and suggest a compromise.

    Any comments or suggestions anyone?
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Hi everyone,

Well done on the award josie!

    Quick post from me:

    Today's list:
    - dropped boyfriends car off to have some work done, they've given him a manual courtesy car, so it's amusing watching him trying not to stall!)
    - went to bank to close account I had overdraft with (paid off with loan). Feel so much better that I'm out of it now and can't go back!!
    - we had lunch at pizza express (used vouchers so paid nothing!)
    - got a couple of toiletries in boots and paid with my advantage card points
    - going to visit family now for he afternoon
    - payday, so moved money into savings and will transfer myself my spending money each week.
    - on track for a nsd :)

    X x

    Yes, I'm here Josie.

I've recently made the opposite move, a job where I was commuting for 1hr 45 mins each way for one where my commute is around 40 mins each way. But then I was doing a job I didn't really want to do, and it was just too far to travel to not enjoy the job when I got there. My work life balance is better now - I walk to and from the station instead of driving and my weight has come down significantly because of it, and I have more time to do jobs at home whereas I was always too tired when I got in to do anything more than cook and wash up.

But if its a job that I was happy in, I would quite happily have stayed.

  • More sodding overtime!

I've made the princely sum of £76.32 today for getting out of bed and working 8.30am-1.30pm.

I will admit, I did blow £5.58 on a steak from the butcher on the way home though

    Perhaps the opposite of DFW

    :rotfl:
I spent 90% of my money on women, drink and fast cars. The rest I wasted. ...
