slow drivers

Oh..
Its something i cant stand!
There is an NSL road near me, single carriage way, down hill, very easy to safely to 60mph down there.
Drivers come onto this road and do 30. Its almost impossible to overtake, unless you do it as soon as you come onto the road, and the opposite lane is clear.
Really infuriating.
Almost as much as people who hog lane 2/3 on a motorway! :@0 -

Well I guess I did feel a trifle unsafe when they nearly went into the back of me when I had to break at the roundabout, they were so close up my rear you see.
However had his little old banger actually gone into the back of my 4x4 I'm pretty sure he would have come off a lot worse.0 -
You've missed "Wants to run their car at the most efficient speed"0

But thats bull, if you wanted to run it at the most efficient speed why not do 20mph on a motorway? Where you would get pulled over and points on your licence for going too slow.
Speed limits are there because they are deemed to be safe in NORMAL conditions for that stretch of road.
By doing 10/15/20 mph less all your going to do is wind people behind you up.
If you/people are bothered about efficiency why not catch a bus/train and allow the people who are capable/confident at driving at the speed limit to do just that?
Just for information, i despise youths/boy racers/any one who flouts the speed limit, driving like on a race track everywhere!0 -

Don't kid yourself, I remeber a motoring program where they purposely ccollided a 4*4 into a MPV and the 4*4 lost0 -

.
Yes, I see this a lot. They have no idea what the speed limit is and use 40 as the "go to speed". They are often the same people who:- Have a rear window covered in snow, mud or rain as they don't ever look behind themselves.
- Slam the brakes on at speed cameras "just in case".
- Don't put their lights on unless it is really dark.

Another option for you: It's a car full of old people.
I drive to and from work 12 miles along a single carriage way NSL road with very few places to overtake.
The mornings are fine, most people drive at a sensible 55-60 which is fine for the condition of the road, you do get the odd !!!! doing 70, I guess they're the ones you evetually see in a ditch.
The afternoons are a different story entirely, once you get stuck behind a car full of old people you've had it. Invariably the men are in the front, the women are in the back and all you can see is bobbing grey heads where they're all having a good old chinwag poodling along at 35 enjoying their afternoon drive out to the country.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Their awareness of the conditions and what's safe is better than that of the person following?
No, that's not "another option 1" because of the obvious slant in the phrasing of option 1 to imply that they're wrong to feel faster would be a risk and you're right to think it wouldn't be.
Personally I rarely hold people up, even in our old 60s and 70s cars, but if someone ahead feels safe at below the speed I'm doing that's fine by me - I'd rather they drove within their comfort zone than got hassled into crashing and making me have to avoid them.
Even getting stuck for 10 miles at 40 instead of 60 will only take an extra 5 minutes, and I can't think of many NSL roads that it's safe to do 60 on where there won't be a chance to pass in the next 10 miles, so where's the problem?0 -

.. and just when they've caused the maximum inconvenience, they always seem to turn off into a garden centre that's just before a 30 sign.
they have earned that right. One day it will be your turn, respect would be nice
