Ever wondered why you get 'impatient wazzocks' behind you? Thought not, you'll be option 3 I suspect.

:rotfl::rotfl: thought you would bite at that....I was right :D

Tell you something i'm probably a damn site better driver than you'll ever be with a post like yours :)

The way I read your post is that you are the type who cant stand cars - vans or any other vehicle in front of you no matter what speed they are doing, irony is that one day you'll come a cropper and i'll be the one going by the scene of your accident...merrily laughing as I do, thinking what a prize prat.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

So you were in a queue this afternoon? But you just said you were making it up.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • in your opinion or theirs, you are not inside THEIR car.

Not looking for a row btw.

I am so tired of inexperienced young drivers causing me extra danger.....

OK, that looks like option 1 then.

IIRC the last person to call me 'young' was an 87 year old who I helped down some steps.

Did I? Where? I think I mentioned it in my first post and then subsequently said it was a preamble to my question, I don't think I ever said I was making it up.

I am sure you certainly consider yourself to be and enjoy your merry laugh at others misfortune.

For your information I just calmly sat in the queue of traffic. My question was, perhaps poorly phrased, but genuinely aimed at trying to discover why some people appear to drive with so little consideration to other road users.
  • What annoys me is the 40-45mph drivers on NSL roads but continue at that speed when the limit changes to 30mph going through villages.

The same people who seem to ignore every road sign and don't indicate. Only thing they do seem to notice is when they see a speed camera at the side of the road when they slow down to 20mph.

Well the point of asking the question was to try and get some understanding of why some people drive at speeds much lower than the speed limit when it is safe to drive at, or close to, the speed limit.

When you see the results of these tests done by the likes of the Rac or Aa it often shows that the driver who wants to drive near the top of the permitted speed doesn't get to his destination that much quicker, and these days we're always getting encouraged to drive slower to use less fuel.

It's an experiment you can try yourself though :)
In the past I used to drive from Bham to Kidderminster, car would average 30-35mpg in peak time traffic, the one time I decided to adhere to gentle acceleration and stick to the limits, time I got to my destination 50.8mpg  but it did take an extra 15mins for the 20 mile journey, tried the same on my return home 48.9mpg, not bad for a 2 litre petrol turbo.
Still rather save myself 10-15 mins and win the traffic light grand prix :o

They don't get to destination quicker because they are stuck behind people doing 40 in NSL......
When learning to drive and doing your test, you are not encouraged to drive slower, you are encouraged to drive as close to the speed limit as safely possible. I.e i failed my test for doing 30 in a 40 zone because I missed the change in speed limit signs. In terms of percentage slower than the speed limit, this is faster than doing 40 in a NSL
