Yes, but have you read previous posts?

As in, if there was no reason whatsoever (any adverse weather conditions), then there is no excuse for driving so slowly.

And certainly not the excuse member brat is peddling, ie "Well officer, I'm driving significantly slower than what the road informs is the max because I don't have the skill or ability to do otherwise!"

Yes, believe it or not (one only has to read their posts), this is what they believe!:D

Sorry, when did the law change that you had to drive at the speed limit on any given road when conditions permit?

This little part of the discussion was about the likelihood of gaining a conviction at court for inconsiderate driving. I was showing you why it wouldn't happen, namely because the speed that you believe inconsiderate for one road user is a speed that is considered entirely appropriate (therefore considerate) for another road user. A court could not therefore convict 'inconsiderate' on the basis of the speed alone, as long as both vehicles are capable of doing that speed safely.

    Waffle.

It is not what I consider inconsiderate, it is what the law states.

Your statement above is essentially giving carte blanche to speeding motorists if you believe the rubbish you just posted!

Try that explanation when you get booked for speeding and watch the cops have a little chuckle at your expense!:rotfl:

Not another one who doesn't read the thread and just jumps in like a bull in a china shop!

If that slow speed is causing problems for other traffic.

If so, that is the offence.

Nobody is advocating a driver, on a deserted road late at night, wanting to drive at 30 in a 60 zone, is committing an offence.

However, some numpty who is on a busy commute driving at 30/40 in a 60 is being inconsiderate, if no reason for driving slowly, and that is an offence.

    Do keep up.

    I've read the thread
I have yet to see evidence that '45ish' is an absolute offence on a NSL road
I'm sure you will be able to provide evidence to save me from making a bull of myself again

    What a pedant.

And who is talking of absolute offences? And of driving 45ish in a 60?

We are talking about the fact that slow driving can be an offence.

    http://www.cps.gov.uk/news/fact_sheets/dangerous_driving/

It all depends on the circumstances. A 30 or 40 in a 60 may be an offence, nobody is saying it is an absolute.

That is what we have discussed.

Now you prove to me that it isn't, there's a good chap.

45ish in a 60 would be from the opening post of this thread
you know, the one you accused me of not reading?
So to be clear,as long as a driver feels 45ish is applicable to the circumstances, then its fine?

I recall an attempt to prosecute a cyclist for taking primary position at 20-25mph in a 40, holding up a queue of traffic for about a minute or so. He was found not guilty of inconsiderate cycling at court.

There is a degree of subjectivity about inconsiderately slow speed, but because some traffic can only do slow speeds (agricultural vehicles etc) it's almost never considered an offence in it's own right unless they continue holding up traffic for an extended period of time, and the hold up means a significant time delay for other road users. HGVs do 40mph with no requirement to be considerate to other road users (by pulling in at lay-bys), so there's no chance that any other road user could be considered inconsiderate in court for doing the same speed. I trust all but one of us will get that.

I stopped and warned a coach driver a while back for driving very slowly along a scenic route, unnecessarily holding up traffic while his passengers took photographs. The ten minutes it took me to give him a telling off in a viewpoint lay-by allowed his passengers all the time they needed to take photos.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

The question was, and still is, what reason could a considerate driver have for doing 45 in a NSL WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO THE NSL?

About 143 accidents a year are directly caused by slow drivers, according to figures for 2009 from the Department for Transport. Quote from Telegraph

    :)

That's an interesting post new-owner, i wonder is it more than 143 or less caused by drivers going to fast.
