slow drivers

Haven't read thread so someone may have said it already but my speed is sometimes affected by tiredness or tough day at work or stuff like that. Not gonna risk an accident.
You don't know how the other driver may be feeling (you probably don't GAS either)
Not prepared to debate it but if someone tailgates me I slow right down. Won't be bullied. If someone wants to go faster they can overtake.
No need to slow right down, that's two wrongs. Just double the gap you would normally keep from the car in front.
I can see why you're not prepared to debate the point.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -

Thanks for your post and i am happy to agree they are all valid reasons for driving slowly.
Just one observation, if your too tired, stressed or whatever to drive at normal road speeds safely should you maybe consider not driving at all?0 -
totally agree.
I get it often in the early hours driving to work
appears it speed limit+N at that time for many drivers.
I'm obviously not being considerate for not driving at the speed limit+N
Where in this thread have people suggested you should speed?
I think you will find that some are suggesting it is inconsiderate not to keep close to the speed limit WHEN IT IS SAFE TO DO SO that's all.
Is strange how quite a lot of posters appear to have read it differently.0 -

I'm sure most people who crash feel they were safe to drive in the manner they were...............until they crashed
Its not for you to dictate what another driver feels is appropriate for the conditions
for me 45 isnt dangerously slow. so they can do that speed if they so wish/feel is appropriate0 -
what car in front?
No car in front, then no problem. Slow down if you feel less safe because someone is tailgating. The implication from "slow[ing] right down" was to take an inconsiderate act against other road users, ie punishing them for being inconsiderate, in other words taking the law into your own hands.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0 -
I have observed driver behaviour for many years now......as an aside to my work....and I have noticed that, once everybody has caught up, the driver at the front is vilified for going too slow'.......I am amazed all too frequently, to see others eventually overtake.....only to find, once at the front, it is they themselves that are dictating what they consider, now, to be a 'safe' speed...and end up 'holding up' everybody else.
It is one thing to have one's speed very much dictated by the vehicles in front.
It is entirely another when one finds oneself, at the front, now having to make a 'safe speed' decision. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

So what difference wold a car in font make to that scenario?0 -

As far as I could see its either because;
1. They feel unsafe going any quicker; or
2. They never look in their mirrors so have no idea they are holding anyone else up; or
3. They have passed their driving test so now they can drive how they want without considering anyone else.
An I missing any other reason?
The definitive answer......
They're in autopilot, they'll do 42mph on every road and every speed limit.
I noticed after the snow started to clear, people were paying attention to the road and most people were driving to the speed limits.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If I have someone aggressively tailgating me I'll slow down and stick at the slower speed. By the way the OP has behaved in this thread I'd suggest that is a distinct possibility.Pants0
