Really, not even one is obvious to you? I obviously have a devious mind then.
Just For a start just consider the fact that eBay would have to disable the computer matrix that automatically added PayPal accepted to all listings. Ok they could link that to the seller showing no postage options.....surely I don't need to explain more?
Er... what?? A computer matrix?? They used to manage it just fine :rotfl:
People have been buying with cash for centuries and somehow managed. Surely testing things out when you buy them, or giving them a thorough looking over, should suffice? Paypal protection is there because when the seller is remote, it is recognised that it puts the buyer at greater risk; you do not have an opportunity to inspect and therefore the seller may not give you the item you paid for or were expecting.
However if you have the choice to look it over and walk away if it's not as expected, more fool you if you decide to hand over your cash anyway! I completely fail to see why this is something ebay cannot untangle. Presumably they are too interested in counting their fat paypal fees to care.0 -

Once PayPal became compulsory on all listings it was never possible to list for collection excluding PayPal. my point is by removing the requirement for PayPal to automatically show on every auction would mean the possibility of being able to get round the requirement to accept in on other auctions as well.People have been buying with cash for centuries and somehow managed. I thought we were only discussing eBay though, I'm sure before the internet people were very happy to,use cash and my local paper shop still allows people to put cards in the window advertising things for sale for cash. Times move on though and I not think anyone here that makes real money on eBay seriously want to go back to the card in the shop window type of sales.
For the purposes of new sellers I think it important to be realistic and remind them of the dangers of PayPal on collection, if only because of the wasted fees they may incur if they refuse to sell. Cash is lovely, cash is fine- but maybe look elsewhere to sell if you don't fancy the gamble on eBay. I'm just concerned that new sellers do appreciate the problems on eBay, rather than get the impression that they can list and somehow 'insist' on cash and not risk paying fees on a failed sale.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
