Regards the battery thing, I'd guess they'd say that you would need to power it up to recharge your batteries. Interesting though
Disagree, if that would be your uni digs and your parents didn't have a licence, would you have to buy them a licence when you went home and used your laptop to watch TV?
Obviously not, so the reverse and most obvious situation is true, you are watching your laptop at uni benefiting from the rule that allows you to watch a portable device anywhere outside the home.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. However the tv licence detector van thing I have witnessed first hand last year when having to hide behind the sofa at a friend's rented ground floor flat when the chap was knocking at the window saying I saw you Mrs doodah watching the tv with your friend and you haven't a licence - his van was parked outside and he was a big scary chap!:eek: I had always thought it was just a ruse to get you money too, but not now....
The reason they came knocking is because they know there isn't a license at the address. (i.e. you are in our database  )AKA; Mad, MM, MM5, Madicles  ©

was about to say the same as madmuppet, the detector van is about as much use as ECTO 1 from ghost busters:rotfl:The person who never makes a mistake never learns anything.0 -
I have to disagree mad as I also got fined for having an illegal telephone, do you remember the ones with the five mile range that were long before mobiles.....
I used to go shopping with the phone tucked in the pram and Oh would ring me from his works, the signal being sent from my landline socket.
The were called supafone and I think Dellboy had one in only fools and horses.0 -

When we first moved to where I live now we didn't have any signal but still had the equipment which is what they say must be licenced, it is irrevelant to the licencing board whether you can actually watch tv , I had to get sky to watch anything so was paying twice for the same channels from bbc and ironically at the time I liked corrie and you didn't get ITV on sky:oAKA; Mad, MM, MM5, Madicles  ©

Yes it was unfortunate she lives on the ground floor with no curtains and I think my leg was sticking out from behind the sofa which was the giveaway........anyway it was jezza kyle on her tv, surely the detector man understood that's not real tv!!!.........btw poor old jezza good to see he's recovering.I like glitching, I like glitching, I like glitching and I like to glitch.....................:j:j:j0
