I have to disagree mad as I also got fined for having an illegal telephone, do you remember the ones with the five mile range that were long before mobiles.....
I used to go shopping with the phone tucked in the pram and Oh would ring me from his works, the signal being sent from my landline socket.
The were called supafone and I think Dellboy had one in only fools and horses.

    That has made me :rotfl:

Who fined you? The telephone police? Were you apprehended while shopping in Liptons :D

Thank you Wendy, that is going to make me chuckle all day :D

Just been to Sainsburys. Individual limited edition Snickers bars - were called 'More Nuts' where it normally says 'Snickers', going through at 15p each.

when we lived in a house with a close, it was called a ginnell. No idea if that's how it's spelt :D

My nan also had a 'landing light' which always used to make me think of runways and aeroplanes when I was little :rotfl::rotfl:

gosh, am i really that old? We still have a `landing light` now!

Doesn't everyone have a landing light...? Or is it called something else these days?

We used to call the covered walkway between 2 houses an alley.

My best mate calls a petticoat an underskirt :D

I looked up ginnel. Apparently, it's Shared Access To Rear Of Property or passageway. Think they are only up north (coronation st springs to mind:D)as I've never seen them anywhere in the south. Here is a pic.

My OH is from Yorkshire - I'm an Essex girl and he calls part of our garden a tenfer.....?? and his mum calls a pram a tamsad....?? anyone heard of these?

A tansad is an old pram, we used to use the wheels to make a bogie, which is like a home made go cart sort of thing ;)
and here in yorkshire we call that a tenfoot (although not ten foot!)
