I am in a similar situation. Its tough isn't it?

I understood that all funeral/ burial/ headstone costs came out of the estate. So the money for the headstone should be allocated before the inheritance is taken.

If someone is suggesting it is "Dad's money" then would he have wanted a headstone? would he have wanted his children to struggle or to fall out over who pays for it, when he had savings? I would have thought it obvious that the headstone money comes from his estate/ savings.

Another thing to bear in mind is that hopefully your Mum will live for a long time and she may need that money for herself or it may limit any benefits/ care she needs to claim in the future. So there may be nothing to inherit.

I'd have to agree that the money should have come out of the estate - that's what happened when my nan died. Mum was executor and paid out for everything then split the difference between dad/auntie.

I'm not sure in the circumstances what I'd do but then I don't think my mum would let us pay even if we offered. It's especially unfair if only 3 out of 5 siblings are paying (please don't think that's anything against you rose28454 :A - I just don't think any of you should pay)

    Morning

Don't wish to jinx but that was one of the many lines of carp I was told last yr abt the call of duty bonus points for pre order and I'm afraid they never went on and six months later I finally gave up argueing with them and never got anywhere.

    I was told

    Takes 24/48/1 week
Told wait til next stmt as they go on in a "last sweep"
    Told manually aplied b4 stmt
Told they go on when store sends them bulk info !!!!!!!!!!

And many more I really hope goes better for you guys tho and that you et your points but I think you may have a fight on your hands

    CM

Ive just had a call from a total balloon!! sorry, but he didn't have a clue. He was burbling on about my CC vouchers being in the post and that's the reason my current balance was so low. Obviously read my email then:cool:

So I now have to forward a copy of my email confirmation to them. Going to do that now and see what happens......whatch this space:D

Sorry to wade in on a delicate subject,
My Nan died 18 months ago, and my Grandad many years before this. When my Grandad died obviously everything was left to Nan. Nan has 6 children (which all only talk to either one or two siblings each), one she only saw once since Grandad died, one who was well off, dominating, bossy etc.., one an alcoholic loser:eek:, the 2 boys continually borrowing money etc... and then my Mum, who was Nan's carer, shopper, cleaner and best friend etc.. (unpaid).
Before Nan died there was always individual arguements over the money, and she always said "the money has ruined this family:( and she wished she didn't have it, so....... Before she died she made a will, I was the witness so knew exactly what was in it:eek::eek: and kept my mouth shut until after her funeral when I sent out the letters and a copy each of the will:eek::eek:
Now from the afternoon of her death:eek:, right up until they received their letters I was getting hounded for this that and everything else, here's the best bit..........The will stated....
I have donated all of my money to Great Ormond street Hospital:rotfl::rotfl:,
And all my possessions to.... My mum:eek:
Suprisingly, we haven't heard from any of them since:rotfl::rotfl:

Any money that has been left is now the Mum's. I say blow it on herself, she has worked bliming damn hard over the years raising kids etc.... And now she should enjoy it:money:.
Sorry for the long post and if I have may have possibly offended anybody
P.s My Mum paid for my Nan's headstone herself, that way she was able to decide what was said on it:)

Morning all, am determined now that we have started a new month to keep up with this thread again.
I've been m.i.a since Christmas, as my mum had a cancer diagnosis just before Christmas. She's had some surgery and has to have some more shortly before the dreaded wait for results(its the waiting thats the killer).
Anyway, with that and my ds 18th birthday a week ago and my other ds 10th birthday yesterday and much scraping /plastering/painting of walls, life has been happening!!!

I managed to catch the bit about the dw tabs yesterday and got 12 boxes, but feel like I've been in limbo this last month, so want to come back to the real world(whatever that is!!!)

Many hugs to those that are going through it. I'm not going to try to read back a months worth, but wondered how logie is, and tinyshoes(with her mum)?

    Happy 1st Feb everyone.xx:)

Fingers crossed for you with your mum:(and big hugs xx
