    Welcome aboard Purple !

You will find us a supportive and non-judgmental bunch who do our best to support each other.

I am now TT (just over 500 days AF), but when I drank I loved the drink but not the aftermath !.

So on Oct 16 2011 I went AF and have been on the wagon since.

Not regretted it and love waking up at the weekends wanting to do things (as I am single no kids etc and work full time the weekend was my beer time).

Good luck and anymore questions please ask away !.

hi, another AFD please Shaggy, so that's 4 so far this month please.
Purple, I know exactly what you mean about being crabby. I dont have kids (well, have a DSS who lives with us but he is older than yours), but like you, I didnt get a hangover, just every day crabbiness and generally not full of the joys of spring.
Now however, I wake up feeling fantastic every morning (sorry if both 41 and I are feeling super-happy!) - honestly, it feels amazing!! Good luck. Small steps are good, you will soon find your way.
The other side benefit I've found is that I now actually look forward to - and enjoy - having some wine on a Saturday night and I really savour and love it!

5/31 AFDs for me, with 61 in total.

Purple, I found it hard at first, and the wine monsters would sing their siren song at 5pm. If I got through till after dinner I knew I was ok. It was a habit to chink-chink wine glasses at dinner with DH. Now we mime raising a glass and say "cheers". DH will have a couple of bottles of ale on a Saturday evening, which I buy for him.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

Had an absolute pig of a day today and left work tired, dehydrated, wound up, stressed and late!! In the afternoon I imagined a nice deep red wine with wonderful legs but have come home and <somehow> reached for the teabags instead. I know it is only 9pm so I'm not strictly AF yet but I'm counting this so 5 AF nights for me!

Mantra: a pig of a day caused by others does not mean that I will drink like a pig tonight! My night will be mine and I won't make myself feel worse by drinking!! Night all!

  • Hoping to get back on the wagon with you all. Unself - feeling a bit like you do. I did well in January and February started off well but a few social outings and then a lot of work stress led me back to drinking wine every night again and feeling bad about it. I felt so good in January like a lot of you are now! It didn't last for me though. It is good to see so many people doing so well but for me it is then quite hard to admit I'm not. Anyway I may as well admit it and say I'll try again.

Can you put me down for 12 in March please Shaggy.

I had a good 4 mile run tonight, but I wasn't keen on the way the group didn't wait for me to catch up at the rest point, that was unprofessional of the lead runner, and downright unsafe to leave a female on their own. So I won't join them next week.

It's a pity because I need to find a group to run with mid-week as I know it will help me get faster.

That wasn't very nice of them and the lead runner should have better sense than to leave a female runner on their own.

Hope you find another group soon x
