Instead of having a drink, I took a leaf out of Stupot's book and took my family for a walk. Result being 13/18 AFDs and a nice time had with my wife and son.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -

I guess I have to find out if alcohol for me is an addiction or a habit, this may mean a few hard knocks and relapses, I don't know, but I need to believe in my own head that I have to stop altogether before I will do it wholeheartedly.
I am really interested in what you mean when you say you changed yourself. So far I have been 6 weeks AF on will power alone and am now finding it really easy to continue (it wasn't at first believe me!). My life is now changing in subtle ways all by itself, but what would I need to do to change myself if I decide to give it up for good and never go back there?
I had to change my head! Well, my thinking.
It's the sober me that picked up that drink, and then the drunk me that kept on drinking it. But I was sober when I always started to drink.
That tells me the issue is in my head. If I could stay away from that first drink, then I wouldn't get drunk. Easier said than done.
I couldn't just think myself better - my sick head cannot fix itself. So I had to change what I did. My actions led my thinking, so right actions lead to right thinking.
I got help from others, and continue to do so. I do simple actions like speak to others about my drinking, write gratitude lists, etc and these simple actions help me stay away (and not want) that first drink.0 -
Morning all,
It has been a very busy weekend on here - some amazing, thought-provoking posts.
Satchmo - so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Snowy - I lost my cat Dempsey nearly four years ago now and I still think of him so much - he was my constant companion and he left a big hole in my life when I lost him. Snowy will be waiting for you at 'Rainbow Bridge'.
No AFD's this weekend but it was my birthday on Saturday so I was not expecting any - however I did only drink a reasonable amount and no hangover so that is good news
Have a good Monday everyone0 -
Morning :hello:

So had a stay away in a boutique hotel which ended up with champagne in a hot tub under the stars! Bliss! With the in - laws so managed to keep myself under control and didn't sports drink like I normally would do!
Unfortunately, that then led on to drinking again on the saturday night but less ferociously than previously would have been too.
Then, Sunday had wine <again> so basically boozed away the entire weekend! Not slaughtered by my usual standard but sooooooo easy to slip back into daily drinking!
Anyway, back on track so calling 17 AF for tonight! I know this for a fact as I will be in work late!
Have a good week all - lets grab the baton of sobriety!

I think I will set my target at 10 AFD's for December please Shaggy - I know that is not very much but I think I am being realistic
Same for me too please Shaggy.
Target of 10 for December.
I'm going to be first with the 'baton of sobriety' today. That'll take me to target and then I might just manage one more later in the week but lots of social stuff going on. So today I'm definitely going to be AF.
10 AFDs for November please Shaggy.
Like stu (hotel sounded great BTW), I've been sensible and moderate on my drinking days so I don't feel too bad about the low total.0
