Everyone Welcome!!!What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -

I'll get my coat now and toddle off to bed. Perhaps I need to join in for Sept. I'll think about that in bed.
Thanks.x
I know it can be cold in Orkney, but a coat in bed!
Good to see you pip.:D0 -
Pop in more often Pippi - your wise words and ling experience are really valuable to us all.
I have found that starting work again has really made me cut down a lot. The prospect of teaching with a hangover is awful, so I go to bed early and sober!
That said, I am finding work so overwhelming that I might bail out before the end of my probationary period (after which I am locked in until the end of the school year).Trying to keep in budget.

Thank you everyone for your lovely words, it's really given me a boost. I find the more I try to give up, the more my mind is thinking about wine, oh lovely wine, then I make an excuse to 'need' it. Last night it was having been for a long walk. What a load of nonsense eh?
Well this evening I've been out and then cleaned and tidied till 9.30 without going near the wine, I've just had some tea with a soft drink and now I'm off to bed, might even splash out and have a hot chocolate! I'm having a little mental victory dance here. Night all, and thanks again, you're a really lovely crowd in here!Battling booze, bulge and bills.

As a part of my spending cut to a. pay my debts and b. live within my means, my wife and I have given up alcohol 6 days per week. We are allowing it on a Saturday evening as a treat. 2 days in and I'm already finding it difficult, I usually drink what amounts to basically a bottle of wine a night and a nightcap. The wife, who only has a glass is not missing it at all.2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000 -

That's great!:T You'll soon have the tidiest house in the country!:DAs a part of my spending cut to a. pay my debts and b. live within my means, my wife and I have given up alcohol 6 days per week. It's bound to be difficult, you've given yourself an amazing challenge. I think you're wise to limit your drinking to Saturday rather than try and have a little through the week. I certainly find an all or nothing approach works best for me too. It will get easier, it's a case of changing your habits and the fact that your wife isn't drinking will help too. Good luck with your AFness and with your debt-busting. You might want to record your money saved alongside your AF days for motivation.
3 AFDs please Shaggy.0
