Day 4 and nothing to report. I'm finding this really hard and liking myself less and less for drinking. It's suddenly like I'm on the outside watching myself mess up, the rubbish I come out with when drunk and the mistakes I make the day after. Sorry about the one person pity party but I'm giving myself a slap today. Rant over!!Battling booze, bulge and bills.

Feel free to rant as much as you like. It sounds like you do recognise that you want to cut down/give up. That's a good start. Can you avoid buying any? Having it in the house? Go to bed early? Try an hour at a time until it's too late to spoil an AF day or at least you drink less? Do feel free to ask questions. There's plenty of September left. And I make it Day 3!;)0 -

Slinks in all quietly (waves to Maman)
I hop over now and again.
Another AF day for me - giving me two this month.
Its been a long time since its been this hard to have wine on 'allowed' nights (Sun) then not continue for the rest of the week, which is the pattern I've shoe horned myself into. August was a dreadful month for lots of reasons and I found myself trying to give myself excuses for drinking. I've a washing machine head which won't switch off at the moment so I'm reading and writing more to distract myself.
Thank goodness for the book RA recommended. I've read it lots over the past few weeks.
Funny how sometimes the hard bit rears its ugly head some times, the bells toll and its jumps up and bites you on the a**
I just wanted to say thanks for the thread, whilst I don't post much I read when I can.
And my AF days (and non) go into my phone calendar each day to remind me that I don't drink the way I use to any more.
Small steps and all that.
OWAM - I can totally understand why you feel like that, its not a pity party - some days its just hard.
Hugs chaps and thanks for lurking about in the background. And sorry for the brain dump, its nice to know folks are around.
I'll get my coat now and toddle off to bed. Perhaps I need to join in for Sept. I'll think about that in bed.
Thanks.x

Lots of great advice there.
I don't keep alcohol in my house anymore unless we plan it.
Some days - and today was particularly 'bellsy' - I avoid the supermarket/shops if I can.
Today I couldn't and I found myself in the wine aisle. I just told myself that I was working tomorrow and if I wanted any wine tonight, I'd have to come back later to get it, as it wasn't a 'planned' drinking day.
Someday's just walking away for a bit works for me.
Other days its doesn't but I know that the feeling of wanting some wine passes eventually.
On the days where I can walk away, I do. On the days' were I try to and find it hard, I just put it off for a bit. And like Maman says you get to the point where its late and there's no point in spoiling an AF day.
Sometimes the feeling passes. Sometimes it doesn't.
Cutting down was hard for me, but its worth it.

Morning :hello:
1 more AFD for September.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
