    Morning thread, :)

41 and i know it, well done on your 27 days. That's really good, there is no point in going over that one day. Worrying about the day not completed only serves a cycle of negativity, when there is no need, and I know all about having negative thoughts. You should be pleased that you had a choice, and did well. :)

I'm reading a book by Jason Vale called "Kick The Drink...easily", and it's put things in perspective. It's all down to choice, and this book dispels the preconceptions, and "labels" for people who want to cut down, or not bother. I really recommend reading it. I feel positive, and have only read the first couple of chapters.

I started taking Kudzu root yesterday, and it has curbed my intake, and I feel really good. I have an unopened bottle of wine, which I may, or may not open this evening, but am happily drinking coffee.

    Have a good day everyone.
Thanks for the book tip, I understand what you're saying. You are right that once the day has gone just forgive and restart, in the back of my mind I am trying to tell myself that I haven't got a problem and should be able to be AF every day, and I need to stop that. I have got a problem, I don't want to drink and I find it hard, end of. Why can't my head get this. If I don't want to drink by conscious and informed choice, why do I end up doing it and setting in forth a chain of thought processes which in turn end up in drinking.
I am human, I can only try. And above all I'm doing this for myself, not even for my kids. I want to stop and I am the only person whos gonna do it. Other people will benefit but I am not doing it for them. It feels good to write it down and see it.

  • Congratulations everyone, what a great team effort we have done this month! Lets keep it going through February.

I am out tonight, looking forward to it, but not just for a drink but because of the social side as well. Normally it's not a treat as I used to drink most nights at home. But not anymore. New year new me, I am feeling very positive today, hope everyone else here feels the same.

I'll report in tomorrow, how my first drink of the year goes.

Hello everyone. Nice to see such positivity here! I got a sponsor today. She is going to help guide me through the steps and help me build up my defences for the difficult times. Today my little boy got hurt at school, he's fine but I had to take him to hospital and get him looked at. Ordinarily, this would've sent me flying into a bucket of wine but instead I found an AA friend and had coffee and a chat, then met my sponsor! I'm so proud of myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!! XXX

Thanks Shaggy, got my dancing banana!

Saw my therapist today and burst into tears pretty much as soon as I stepped through her door. It was a good session though and I have been able to put things in perspective with regards to my dad.

There are people out there who drink much more than my dad did, and are still alive. So whilst his drinking may have contributed to his death, I do think he was unlucky too. And also, I have nothing but good memories of my dad and I know he loved me. I still have questions to ask my mum, because now I know the truth I want to know more about him. Once I know more about my father I can put that to rest. But I will leave her a bit, I think she needs some space to process what I told her.

Well done to everyone and here's to a good AF FebREWary ;)

So glad your session went well Lilith.

Brilliant jak, you really seem to be in control. Glad LO is fine.

It will in time. Just keep practising your new habit so it replaces the old one.

Loved these posts. I know it only applies to cutters-down but relegating booze to treat status is just what I wanted to acheive. And we have!:j:T

31/31 for Jan for me :D

My target for Feb is 24/28. Not drinking tonight but going to have a couple tomorrow night and on Wednesday at a celebration. I don't think that's excessive :)
  • I'm getting ready to go out, just got up from bed cos I've had a headache for most of the day due to tension, I paid off my credit card only to find I had left myself short in my bank account lol. Good intentions and all that, paid money into my bank account so should be sorted. Hoping not to drink tonight so wish me luck.
