    Everyone Welcome!

Please highlight your AFDs in Red

Don't hesitate to let me know if I've got your AFDs wrong!!!!!
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Many congratulations to all those who managed the full month.

I think it must be the best monthly total ever for the thread, it's great to read all the scores rolling in. I'm sure it's my best ever.

22 AFDs for January please Shaggy.

Totally agree with that Maman. It's great seeing so many hit or even exceed their targets.
    Good luck for February people...

I was in a meeting one night this week and a young chap came in with his mother. While he went out for a cigarette, she was saying that she lives in constant fear that the police are going to knock on her door one day and tell her that her son is dead. Awful to hear the pain both of them are in.
While I didn't stop drinking for anyone else, the bonus of me not drinking is that people who love me don't have to worry while I am sober. I stole their peace of mind for years, and now they can have it back. That's a gift.

Wow, what a great thread to stumble upon (although I'm not sure how I haven't seen it until now)!

Well done everyone on your achievements so far! :j

I've cut down on the bad stuff significantly, although not completely, over the last few weeks and have noticed a massive difference. Not only have I lost weight (see signature for this morning's weigh-in!) but I've also saved money, felt better rested and spent less!

Again, well done :) *follows thread*
  • Pinch, punch, first of the month. Well done everyone, shaggy I only managed 27 AF days not 28 lol. Completed the SNC easier this week than the previous 3 weeks, that shows that my thoughts are changing and my behaviour is following.
Graeme what lovely words to say, really touched my heart.
Figtree welcome and please stay we need as many as we can and hopefully one day everyone will know about this thread.
Well done Jak on your idea for your mum not staying - classic lol.
I am setting a target for Nobrewery February as 28 days as this is a short month. It is only 4 weeks and not 4 weeks and 3 days, trying to con my brain into positive thinking lol.
Thankyou for allowing me to join in the Dryathlon, it was my first month of trying to abstain and cut down if not. I managed 27 days and now it is over I am trying to analyse where I went wrong on the days I did drink. Really can't find a reason why so goes to show that when I want a drink I will find any excuse, any reason to suit because I am good at getting what I want even when it is no good for me, and then I end up hating myself for drinking again.
I know it doesn't sound like it, but I feel positive this morning. I feel like January has dragged and it was the anti-climax after Christmas.
My daffodils are pushing up to the sky reminding me that we all can begin again. I love this thread, let's face our problems together, we matter and we exist, just because we drink or drunk should not mean anyone has to suffer alone with no-one to talk to about it.

    Morning thread, :)

41 and i know it, well done on your 27 days. That's really good, there is no point in going over that one day. Worrying about the day not completed only serves a cycle of negativity, when there is no need, and I know all about having negative thoughts. You should be pleased that you had a choice, and did well. :)

I'm reading a book by Jason Vale called "Kick The Drink...easily", and it's put things in perspective. It's all down to choice, and this book dispels the preconceptions, and "labels" for people who want to cut down, or not bother. I really recommend reading it. I feel positive, and have only read the first couple of chapters.

I started taking Kudzu root yesterday, and it has curbed my intake, and I feel really good. I have an unopened bottle of wine, which I may, or may not open this evening, but am happily drinking coffee.

    Have a good day everyone.
