Everyone seems to be doing sooooo well this month!!

I am delighted to report another AF night taking me to 12 AF nights so far this month.

Ski-ing holiday next week though and that will involve booze and camaraderie but the whole point of trying to take control of times where there is no actual reason to drink was so that for periods of fun and celebration I can still drink!

Funnily enough my favourite quote by an author was always "When you drink the world is still out there but for the second it doesn't have you by the throat!" Charles Bukowski. Perhaps I need a less Pro alcohol one instead!

Hope you're all having a good week!

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Hello everyone and good morning! I've made plans today to have one of my son's firends over for tea next Friday. Still trying to be proper Mummy! Hopefully, it will go well. We are making cakes as that seems to be a good plan! I am having a cup of tea with one of my AA friends after school at 4, then seeing another friend at 5 so my little one can play with her little girl. Busy, busy, except I'm currently sat on my backside...!
I hope everyone has a great day, and can I just say, I'm very excited to get my Feb 14 day heart... looks like I will get a valentine this year after all and it will mean a hell of a lot more than a rubbish card! X

but then Sunday's aren't part of the 40 days of Lent and I would generally take advantage of them.

Really? that's the first time I've heard that or is it the gospel according to satchmo?:rotfl:

Second date went well tonight, another AFD, so 30/31 and the 3rd SNC.

Glad all is going well for you Barny.:)

I can't tell them because they will tell everyone they know and gossip endlessly (that's just the way they are, never going to change, does my head in!) but if I say I can't drink on my tablets, they are liable to sit there and drink in front of me and I can't cope with that! Any thoughts? X

I know you have a plan jak but if I were you I'd tell them you've been doing the Dryathlon and you were feeling so good and saved so much you carried on and now you can't drink anyway because of the tablets. If they want to gossip and call you an alcoholic that's their problem but making our friends/family accept that we don't want a drink is part of the journey. I know it will be hard if they drink in front of you (assuming they'd go out for their own as you definitely shouldn't buy any) but it'll be easier to cope with that test for the first time in your own home than in a bar.

:Ton the good mummy plans. I read your latest post as you'd invited one of your son's fiends around next Friday!;)

A big thank you to Shaggy and Mackeroo for the scoring.:T:T:A:A This thread is such a help to us all. I was tempted to have a 's*d it' night tonight but having read about how well everyone is doing I'm not.

21 AFDs for January please Shaggy.

Thanks Satchmo. Yes fiends is the right word!!! Haha xxx
I won't be buying any wine. My sister wants to come down too and that would be a total nightmare as she is a mahoosive drinker. She asked me to tell her when they're coming so she could come too. I think if she comes as well, I'll just !!!!!! off to a meeting. There's usually one every night thank god! X

Love the idea of a gospel according to satchmo, but it's true, count the days from Ash Wednesday through to Easter Saturday and to get to 40 you need to exclude Sundays. I only found out about that about 15 years ago, when I complained that it was mean to make me wait til Easter to eat some Mother's Day chocolates!
