What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

100% agree Maman. This thread is for everyone.
There is ALWAYS hope and reading/writing on this thread is expressing hope.

Thank you Maman and Graeme. It has taken me a very long time but I have finally worked out why I became so dependant on wine. I now have to find the strength to deal with those issues and keep a clear head to do so.

Managed not to drink last night even though DD bought a bottle of wine to go with sunday roast. A major achievement for me and I am so proud of myself. 1 AF day :j

I am not going all out and set myself unrealistic targets. Again I am going to set myself the target of 1 day today so if you can put my on your list ShaggyDoo, I will hopefully see the days mount up and can chart my progress.

Thank you all for your kind words of support, I hope when I am a bit stronger, I too can give people the help and support they need.

    New Day x
Today is a new day and I'm gonna make it a good one. :)

    Morning All :hello:

AF for me last night, due to me being ill all day after friends 40th , I was "merry" didn't get up til 11am on Sunday (never got in until 3.30) had rolls & bacon for brekkie then 4 hours later vomited them back up, I think my tolerance is now not as good as it was.

Shaggy, can you add another 2AF's to my total please, think thats 8 now, thats for yesterday & tonight, hot choc & broadchurch for me tonight :D.

I also find no-one judges here, and there is a lot of support, if I hadnt come on here, I would probably still be drinking a bottle a night.

41 - Well done on drinking so little on your holiday, you done fantastic :T. I have another surprise 40th this Saturday, I think I may just take the car and not drink . I shall see how I feel nearer the end of the week

  • My memory is SO bad, there are so many people congratulating me on not drinking as much as I could have on holiday, and I don't deserve it. Firstly the night I drank the 2 pints of Coors Light, I started with a half, then another half and then a pint which was 5p cheaper very MSE lol. Wanted more but thank God my DS wanted to go home as tired otherwise I would have carried on. So that was my son who caused me to stop not me. And the other night where I drank half a carling I should have just left it there and got a diet coke, but my other half wanted me to drink it and he wanted me to drive which I did, why did he buy me a lager when I was the designated driver. When I said I'm driving and didn't want it he kicked off and said one won't harm you, he was referring to the driving which I am well aware that driving means not drinking alcohol. I really didn't want it and said that if I drunk it he would have to drive, but he kicked off and I backed down so not AF due to bullying partner, I feel so ashamed for driving after half a lager and the fact that I was bullied into doing it, btw my driving wasn't affected but that's not the point. I blew 2 days for the sake of 2 and a half pints, the first night I enjoyed but the second night, what is the point of blowing an AF night for the sake of half a lager which started me craving and then feeling resentful. Don't know who I am most angry/upset with ME/PARTNER/ALCOHOL or all three.
Another thing, I, from now on will not be automatically thanking in order to remember where I have read up to, as I think that people will view me as superficial and not really reading their posts and understanding them fully. So if I thank you it is because I have been touched by your post and therefore I will just have to get my brain in gear to remember where I have left off. All the posts are so good, like getting my 5 a day but I want the thanks to be meaningful and heartfelt so I hope I don't offend, but when I thank all posts I feel bad because people will think I don't care.

Consider yourself kicked imagnu. Don't worry about missing your target. What matters is that you don't just give up on April completely. Every AF day counts!;) Remember that newday and you made a brilliant start yesterday. If you could cope at a weekend, you should find a working day much easier.

Hope you're OK satchmo, worries me when I see posts from the middle of the night!

:Ton getting a bit of packing done Lilith despite feeling yuk. You'll be sorted for the weekend and much more up for it than if you were hungover.

macpep, I've definitely become less tolerant since cutting back. I find it helps to find the stop button. I consciously realise part way through a glass that I've had enough and make myself a cup of tea. It's not so easy when you're out as it is at home but it'll come in time.

41, I can understand that you're cross with yourself for drinking at all on your holiday but you must look at where you've come from. Your achievement is HUGE and don't forget that.:) I could go on about your partner sabotaging your efforts and being selfish and irresponsible....but that's another story. Hopefully you'll sort that out and you're definitely in a stronger position to do so than you were last year.

Sorry this has turned into a bit of a list. Hope EVERYONE is having a good day. Definitely back on the wagon tonight for me.

Thanks, Maman, I'm pretty down at the moment, but I haven't turned to the wine. I have eaten too much chocolate, but there's only one Easter egg left now, and Mr Satchmo would gladly help out if he got the chance.

Hope everyone else is ok. I do value the support and friendship of this thread, thanks all.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    6AF please Shaggy
Thought I had better weigh myself today, 1st time since before Xmas, and have put on 10lb, not surprising really - since been with my new guy its been meals out, takeaways and rich home cooking with full fat puds :)
So been mad on the wii, went out for a slight jog with the kids, and now on the hot squash
It certainly helped me not to drink, esp as I am hormonally sad today, I have even avoided the chocolate - satchmo1:p
It is only 8pm thou lol
