Had an unexpected AF night - decided I didn't want a drink so didn't - the OH was most surprised :rotfl:

So I'm now 9/11 AF and feel like I'll make my target.

Off to make snowmen with DS and then to his birthday party (good job I'm feeling on top form today could be quite noisy :p)

Have a great day and stay warm everyone.
  • Happy birthday to your son sophie and enjoy making snowmen i am so jealous we have no snow at all. Thanks shaggy for your kind comforting words, I am ok so don't worry and because I could be called to drive there straightaway I have to stay sober as I will be taking my family to ICU maybe in the middle of the night, that apart I do not feel like a drink, and that is the honest truth. The anti-depressants I am on are really helping me, I am so surprised because I been on so many different ones and for years, but I am really feeling a difference so hopefully the pills and lack of alcohol will help me to get through this depression, I believe in fate and I believe in meeting fate half-way so I need to kick the booze and that is my half-way measure, I will take the medication like a good girl and hopefully when I wean off this time it will be the right time, I know medication is not for everyone but I've really tried and struggled without it so I have to whether I want to or not. Ok get to the point 23 AF days lol

Hi all 23 AFDs for me please Shaggy.

Our boiler has broken down - bloomin' typical! It's all because the flue (sp.?) has been fitted in such a way that when we have wet/icey weather, water gets into the flue and the boiler won't fire. We've had to call engineers out many times for this previously, and the landlord who tried fixing the guttering but made a botch job of that.

We just have to wait for it to dry out and then it will be ok, doesn't help when it's freezing though! Will be glad to leave this house, it's nothing but hassle!

Rant over, happy Sunday everyone lol :o

Hi everyone, it's been a while since my last post. I'll admit now that I've been a bit naughty and have only racked up 10 AFD this month. I'd been doing so well this year, too, but I'm not going to dwell on it. If there's one thing I've learnt from you lovely people on this thread, it's that you can always brush yourself off and start again. Looking forward to posting more often again! FT

Just called by to catch up. Sorry to hear about all the illnesses especially the serious ones in your family 41.

No snow here (south of England) but cold, grey and miserable (that's the weather not me:D).

I was out to supper last night and had two teeny (125ml?) glasses of indifferent wine. Planned to have something decent when I got home but as it was so cold a mug of hot tea won out!!

Will have a drink with my roast later but definitely back on the wagon tomorrow. I feel in control but checking in makes me stay on the straight and narrow.

Thanks Barney and 41 for your kind words and encouragement. In true "b*gger it" style, I finished the wine last night, fell asleep on the couch, woke at midnight, then couldn't sleep in bed.

My mood isn't much better today than it was yesterday, and it's compounded by a hangover, dehydration, sugar craving and self-loathing. I'm climbing back on the wagon though, as I much prefer waking up feeling the way I have for 79 mornings this year.

To think, I woke up feeling like this for about 300 days last year. That's not good for mind, body, soul or pocket.

Why the bad mood? DH is depressed, so isn't doing anything but work, eat, sleep and complain. The complaining has really got me down. The fact that he spent £18 on snacks yesterday got me down. The fact that he ate my fruit pastilles, knowing that they were mine, got me down. The lack of help around the house got me down. The fact that my job is mind-numbingly boring is getting me down. I want to stay in the organisation; my manager knows I won't stay in this role long as it is a stop-gap until something more interesting comes along. None of it particularly earth shattering, just a general grinding down.

Is it too early to call today my 23rd AFD? It will be, I'm not getting off this wagon today, no way Jose.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Satchmo your DH sounds like my unD partner, I know where you're coming from, and everyone else doesn't take it seriously do they.
You are amazing, and I want to tell you that, you need to hear and be reminded of it. Please, continue with your brilliant progress, and don't worry about yesterday, it may bother and haunt you but in the bigger picture of things, it is one day and that's all we are promised in this world, you are capable of so much so don't give up.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

I was thinking about your night out on April 20th- if you are sure you don't want to drink anymore and you think you might be tempted to - maybe you shouldn't go? Maybe you should meet up with the same friends for coffee or something? Just a thought. Don't know what others think? I'm not really trying to stop completely so I only have "cunning" things I would do to ensure I didn't drink too much....
