Those ornaments that are words? I was in Dunelm yesterday and it reminded me that I just don't get it.
Like the one for the bathroom that says 'bathe'. Is it in case you're having such a nice time in the bath that you forget what you got in there for? And even worse, there was a soap holder with 'soap' on it and a toothbrush holder with 'brush'. It's not like anyone's going to start scrubbing their pits with the toothbrush and rubbing soap on their teeth!
Or 'dream' for the bedroom. If you're doing what it says then you're not able to read it, and if you can read it it's just going to mock you for having insomnia and reminding you of what you're not able to do.
My personal favourite is the photo frames with 'family' in big letters above. I doubt many people look at a photo and wonder who it is, needing a reminder that it's the kid they gave birth to...
(Yes, I know that some people can't recognise relatives and do forget things like how to wash, but I don't think the ornaments are aimed at them).
Daft moan over.

Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

:rotfl: its just a fad. All ornaments are like that, a fad, a passing fancy, aren't they?0

Oh, ames, I am with you. It leaves me feeling adrift in banality.0

... all ornaments really.

(I do have a wooden Mr & Mrs from our wedding that are painted the same colour as our colour theme and made in the same font as our invite lettering.)0 -
Completely agree... I find them very bizarre!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

I don't really get them either, wouldn't have them in my house. Although we did buy the "family" photo frame and fill it with pictures for my mother-in-law when her health was deteriorating and she was struggling to remember/recognise people. It also helped staff at the care home strike up conversation, asking what relation the "family" people were etc.0

Ha ha! I could be worse. Remember those multi-coloured china cows that were all the rage a few years back.0

I've got one that says 'bathe' in the bathroom . Think there's a lot of stuff like that around just now. No use at all, like any ornament or sign but it looks ok . Charity shops are full of ornaments , tea sets , glassware , vases etc that are out of fashion . I wonder who buys them?0
