I've just been looking at moving from Sky LLU to Talk Talk LLU, which isn't possible, and I got the following message when I entered my address
A new telephone line is needed

Our phone line checker shows that the address entered doesn't have a telephone line there that TalkTalk can use. Don't worry. We see this often when people move house or switch from Virgin Media and cable providers.
What do I need to know?
BT usually charges £50.00 to install a new line but we are refunding the total amount so you will pay nothing!
You will receive your new telephone number in the post
  • Hi there.

I was wondering if anyone can help with some advice.

i signed up with talk talk phone and broadband last week, they were suppose to install the phone and broadband on the 14th Feburary, and told us it will take place between 8am and 1pm so i took some time of work to wait for the engineers, which didnt turn up, when called talk talk they told me that it would take 48hrs for them to find out what happened. when i called back after 48 hours they told me that the engineers had indeed turned up but no one was there, which is of course untrue as i have been waiting the whole time and no one turned up.

i wanted to know what my rights are and how to deal with talk talk the next time i call.

    thank you

Unless you require a new line provision, an engineer visit may not be required, the connection is made at the street cab or exchange. What they ask is that access to the property is available on the day should it be required. If the line is already in place, have you tried it to see if it's been reconnected?
No engineer connects your broadband at home, it's a self-install process.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thank u macman for your help.

When I called talk talk they said that the engineers could not get access to the property as there was no one there, which I assume means that they need to access the property.

I have my router and I will try to connect it now and let u know how I get on.
  • I have just tried setting up and connecting the router, but no luck so what should I do now, and what are my rights?
