Thanks all for replies.
Car is roadworthy, but worried about clutch going sooner rather than later! The rest can wait but it's just bugging me. I know it's not as important as some of the things people on here are struggling for.
The haircut is getting more important but can wait a while if I can get a cheap trim in town. I haven't had it cut or coloured since before Xmas and would like it done for trip to Wales for OH's birthday in June (pre-paid for) and our holiday in July in France (OH paid for but will need to pay him back when we go).
No luck on the job hunting front at the mo, though I search online every day and have registered with lots of agencies - just a shame they're trying to push me into crapply paid jobs!
I only have £100 or so in my holiday/car tax/unemployment fund so far, but I was hoping to save more so that I don't have to use my credit cards/overdraft again for any of these, not that I'm planning to be out of work for any length of time! I'll take anything in the short term!
Will try and get together with OH to do car boot, but weekends are pretty choccer now until Julyish.
Thanks for all your support.
OH's birthday in less than three weeks too, but will try and do that on a budget - already bought two little pressies on eBay.0 -
Morning Catt, just wanted to add my support. These things all seem to come and once dont they, but they are sent to try us and as a true DFW you will deal with them in the best way possible!! Flippin' cars hey!! xxMFW

Thanks ATB, all support welcome :rotfl:
Well I have my £2 coins to pay in anyway which were originally for my dentist bill though clutch may give out first  :rotfl:
Do I just ask my bank for money bags?
Thanks

How about finding a mid-week car boot that you can do when you have stopped work? Maybe you could spend a week going from one car boot to another (you may well find 3 or 4 mid week ones fairly close by) and then whatever is left at the end of the week can be considered unsaleable? You may well make a couple of hundred quid from it without having to eat into your weekends?Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Never thought car boots were held midweek! That's a great idea if I can't get work immediately! Thanks! Will spk to OH tomorrow - could take some of his stuff with me if he wants.
Trying to be ruthless at home in having a clearout so it'll be easier to move house later this year AND I'll be able to make some cash! :T0 -
Have a look in the local paper (online of course!) in the classifieds - they generally have a section for car boots and you should find some mid-week ones there.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Right first clutch quote - £285 all in. Guy said he would check it first to make sure it needed full kit. Anyway, I was in the right ballpark
Got a quote from Focus Owners Club too - clutch kit parts only £117. Maybe I can talk to OH very very nicely......
Forgot to add my car needs a new rear wheel bearing too but that WILL hold out until OH can do it - cost of parts £28. Bloody cars!0 -
How are you doing today Catt?

I am not sure if this will help you but do you have a MrClutch Service centre in your area, I found them to be the cheapest for my car (ford mondeo).
you can check for you nearest centre here: https://www.mrclutch.com, you can also find some Vouchers to get discount-just print them off.
Best of luck!0
