Sorry I need to start a thread to keep me motivated.:money:
4 My car's air-con has packed up - even though it's been regassed(£100?)
2 It needs a new clutch (£300?) (£30)
6 It needs a new bumper (free) spraying (£100 unless can get cheaper quote)
1 It needs a new fanbelt (£14.10) (£8)
3 I need a tooth rebuilt (£190)
5 I need my hair doing (£55-same price as local college would charge but can get it done on a saturday) (£61 inc tip)
"SAVED" £270.10
I know the numbers aren't in order but these are the priority numbers as I see it. Can't get rid of car at the mo as I need it too much.
So I need to raise £759.10 as soon as poss. The clutch and the air-con I haven't had quotes for yet, so may be underestimating or overestimating.
All my spare money at the mo is going into my savings as I will be unemployed when my contract ends here on 16th May and need to save for holiday to France too, so this money all needs to come from extra work/sales. Trouble is I've startyed freecycling instead of eBaying cause I can't sell what I've got left - no-one wants it!
I know you'll all suggest extra work, but anything else until I can find some bar work/leaflet delivering?? And I was doing so well on my debt too

Could you live without the air con for a while? I don't know enough about cars but surely it can't do any harm to put it off.
Get an accurate quote for the clutch by shopping around (unless you are tied to a dealership.
Fan belt - ok - just get it done at the same time as the clutch.
Bumper & spraying costs look reasonable but can they be put off until next pay day or is it hanging by a thread/or MOT requirment?
Maybe this should be on the motoring board but that won't help your poor tooth or the hair!0 -
I'm a DFW and I know the good support everyone gets here.
Yes the bumper can wait though until the other things went wrong I was going to do it this month!
Fan belt I can buy and boyf will fit - no labour charges!
Clutch I'm going to phone round for tomorrow, so keep fingers crossed! It may hold out until boyfriend free then he said he would do it for me, but I'm not sure.
Air con can wait, yes, though it was roasting round the safari park yesterday when we had to keep the windows closed.
Boyf has a nice new company car so feel like the poor relation when thiings aren't as good as his on my car!

The difference is: It's not his car.
You own a car and he doesn't. Does that not make you feel like the rich relation?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Not really ZTD - I'm still paying for it and it's all going wrong. His needed 4 new tyres and a new fanvelt - so the company take care of it. He's happy cause he gets a brand new all-gadgets inc car every three years.
Ah well.0 -
Hiya!! What do you do, and what luck have you had so far in the job hunting??0

What type of car is it? £14.10 seems expensive. Try a motor factor NOT Halfords.0

How desperate is the hair cut? There is a "free" haircut with bottles of herbal essence at the moment. Costs about £2 for the shampoo but you'd save £53 if you did that, assuming there is a salon near you doing it. Only problem is if you miss the appointment, you have to shell out £30 for nothing. Look at https://www.herbal-essences.co.uk/freehaircut

I found things that dont sell on ebay, do well at a car boot sale- less money obviously- but you will bring something in - maybe take the boyfs car if yours wont go
motoring board should have the answers as to whats wrong with your car & where to get cheaper parts - if your boyf fits them - couldnt you get them online?
How much is in your holiday fund- surely having a car to get to work is more pressing than the holiday at this stage? or is your car roadworthy at the mo:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

That is a motor factor - I don't use Halfrauds for anything!
It's a Ford Focus.
