Fraudulent activity on vanquis

Hi all
I had a fraudulent transaction take place on my vanquis card at the weekend. I have phoned and they have told me the card is blocked and a new one sent out and it has gone through to the fraud department. They said I need to pay the transaction off if I did not want interest added or if I didn't I could claim back interest accrued once the fraud had been proven. Has anyone been in this situation before with vanquis and were you successful in claiming back the interest? Many thanks

I was under the impression it was not for you to prove and should be entitled to all monies back. This was the case when I had something similar.0

Just wanted to add that you may be liable for the first £50 of the transaction, although this is usually waived, and you may only be refunded in full as long as you have not acted negligently, that you have acted responsibly and in accordance with T&Cs.
That is my understanding of the system re cc fraudulent transactions.
I suggest you check your credit reports from all three CRAs to look for any other unusual activity. You might also want to get a replacement card if that one has been compromised.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Yes I saw that in the terms but I don't see how they can hold me liable for a transaction I know nothing about. I have taken every precaution I can think of.0 -
You'd be liable if, for example, you had given someone your pin number, or allowed anyone else other than yourself to make a transaction using your card, or had written down your pin and negligently left it lying around. Just a few examples of the type of thing card issuers might consider negligent / breach of t&csI work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Who is transation to?
How was it made?
How much?
TBH. Unless your statement date is within a week of the transaction.
It should be resolved and refunded.
Only delay could be if there are other transactions outstanding, that can mean 14 days waiting. As they will want to do it all in one go and not bits and pieces.
Doing it a bit at at a time is a reciepe for disaster and mistakes.
Total up what you owe and pay that, any interest they should refund without prompting. If they don't simply call and complain. FOS will take a very dim view of that practise.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Should I get the fos involved?0 -
Thanks for replying. Transaction was to tech giants walsall for 139 pounds.Transaction was done 19th, statement due on 4th. They are still adamant on the phone that I have to pay it if I don't want charges. They said on the phone tonight they would refund charges but when I asked about transactions made after the statement date (which would now not be interest free due to a balance on the account) they would not be refunded. They said investigation could take 4-6 weeks and money would not be refunded before that.
Should I get the fos involved?
Just pay the minimum balance. WIll be what a £5? Then get them to refund it.0 -

What I intend to do is pay all but the 139. Am I right in thinking the 139 will then accrue interest from when it was done? Vanquis did say previously that interest gets charged on the whole lot. So, if my balance was 1000 then I would pay 861. Are they right to charge interest then on 1000 or 139? Then, as the account isn't paid off in full would new transactions after that not be interest free so would accrued interest or would just the 139 accrue interest? So confused by it all, any advice would be gratefully received.0
