Fraudulent activity on vanquis

My credit card company said that they know about many cases of payments claimed by Tech Giants and that they are looking into it. They said they will credit the amount to my account and are issuing a new card.0

Where can I find the law which says refunds should be immediate? Vanquis are refusing to budge on paying it back until the investigation is done. Are they right to do this?0

On a credit card they do not have to be immediate.
What you are looking for is PSD (payment services directive) Which in this instance does not apply to credit cards.
End of the day so long as you do not end up paying the interest ( raise a complaint saying you will not chase this, it is their responsibility to ensure you are not left out of pocket by fraud) FOS will back this upNever ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
I live in France but as there are now three reports of this company doing this is there nothing we can do or no-one to whom we can report it. The bank tell me that there is nothing they can do but this is obviously a serial fraud rather than a one off.
It is reported as fraud by the bank. So does not get swept under the table.
If you think 3 trans to a retailer is bad.... Come and work in a fraud department for a day....
You will soon realise that 3 is nothing compared to the hundreds you can see to mobile phone co's in a day.
Odds on the retailer is just selling something the fraudsters want.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

My bank said that there is nothing more they could do and it had to be reported to weights and measure or something - so if I did nothing there was the chance that it could be just "swept under the table".
As for 3 trans - one is enough for me thank you.
The retailer is selling car parts - hope the fraudsters have a lot of cars!0 -

!
Who is your bank????
Weights and measures.... What the hell, has that to do with fraud.
All transactions are reported back via Visa or Mastercard as fraud. The bank will claim the money back from the retailer.
So the retailer will stand the loss.
This is how banks report fraud..
Sounds like you got some dimwit on the phone :mad:Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Just to confirm my bank have now credited the card account with the sum that was fraudulently taken.
I was equally surprised that no mention was made by the bank that they were reporting this any further - all they said was that they would debit the bank account involved and, as soon as they received the amount back they would credit my card account - which they have done. They also said that if the other lot then contacted them and asked what was going on, they would be in touch with me again.

Thank you Snowtiger - I had not remembered that and I have now done so, they are cancelling as Lost and Compromised. Again, although it is probably my responsibility, why did they not offer that the first time I called them?0

This has just happened to me with my Tesco credeit card....for an internet purchase of £559 which I know nothing about. I have refused to pay it and just paid the rest of my billed statement. I have incurred interest and I will also incur more interest on payments they still allowed me to make after I reported the matter and they didn't cancel my card. They have now done so but I will NOT be paying any of the interest. I will simply be requesting that it is ALL waived and removed from my account or I will get the FOS involved. Don't be bullied into paying a bill that is not yours nor any subsequent interest! It is not your problem, it is theirs. My case sounds like yours....credit card payments that you make over the phone or on the internet are done on trust and the card companies allow this. You provide all the details necessary for anyone else to simply take those details and either use them themselves or pass them on to someone else to use. I see this all the time in my work. The companies cannot hold customers responsible for ANY costs when this happens as it is risk that they take when their working practices allow such to happen.0
