What would you do???

My OH works shifts with another (male) colleague, sometimes office hours, sometimes until 10pm, and sometimes 10pm - 6am.

He was on a 10pm - 6am last night, and I asked him to pick up some toothpaste from the supermarket. He picked 2 up, brought 1 into the bathroom and left the other in the bag in the living room.

When I woke up for work this morning, there was a condom wrapper on the floor (that we'd used), joking I said who's is this condom??? He said oh I bought some last night. I said what? He said the ones in my coat pocket? I bought them last night 'cause we're running out.

There was a pack of 3 unopened in his coat pocket. But I don't understand why he'd buy them and put them in his coat pocket, over all of his work clothes, rather than in the bag with the toothpaste???

Plus as well as this, we normally get them free from Brook. Fair enough its a bit of a pain to get there for us but I think we still have a few left. Am I being paranoid or would anyone else be worried in this situation?

  • Unless you've got other reasons for being uneasy with his explanation, I'd accept it and be glad he both remembered to pick up the toothpaste in the first place and that he had the good sense to buy two.

Unless I'm being particularly thick I have no idea what the significance is that he works with a male colleague or that he worked a night-shift.

    Honest instinctive answer? Paranoid!
Don't worry about where he carried them! I would rather carry a small box of tampons in my big handbag after I'd bought them than in BOots bag for instance. Personal stuff I keep close.
Do you have any other treason for asking? Has he a history of deceit for instance. If not, then let it go.

I often slip items of a more personal nature into my coat pockets instead of packing it into shopping bags. I grab as it goes thru and shove away. If it concerns you why didn't you ask your OH why he didn't put it in the shopping bag?

Does sound a little like you've had a rummage in his coat pocket and found them and then 'accidentally' made a comment about the wrapped from the other one to bring the coat pockets ones up.
If so it seems to me you already have suspicions before this point.
Apologies if that is not the case but it all sounds a little too convenient.

Yes - this confused me also.

The only things I can think of are:

    (a) the OP suspects husband is gay
    (b) the OP suspects her husband is lying and is in fact working with a female (who he is having an affair with)

I suspect it would be easier to have a sexual affair with a colleague at night given that there would be skeleton staffing levels.

  • Hi,

well he wouldn't need to shoplift if you get them free anyway.

I know he's working with him, I just thought I'd specify in case anyone asked if he was working with a woman. However, I know he was with his colleague as he forgot his lunch and picked it up with him outside!

And the night shift was overtime arranged last minute so it put me on edge a bit.

I can God honestly say I didn't root through his pockets, I don't even think that the coat was on the floor, just he must have forgot from the night before. I haven't even looked to see if they're actually there!

Thanks though everyone, maybe it is just me being paranoid. It's just unusual behaviour for OH, we don't normally buy them and I don't see why he'd keep them close to him if they're for home. Maybe being one of the 'lads' infront of his colleague??

I would be suspicious too I;m afraid, 'specially as you get them free, I mean, why would he want to buy them,

Friend of mine (female) who had been sterilized found some in her OHs possession who had had a vasectomy. Now what;s the crack on that then......

Sorry, I dont believe a word he says to be honest.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Why not just ask him why he bought them when you could get them for free? It need not be a confrontation - just a money-saving query.
