Mrmajika - OH just about to pay off his loan in full when we came across your post, if he pays off all but the last month off when does the last payment get paid? the following month or at the end of the loan term, which is in 5yrs?
Thanks for the advice because otherwise he would of paid it all off next week and would of had to pay the settlement fee!!! We have saved money YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE0 -
To some of the posters here who used to work in a financial institution or still do. You are on very dangerous ice giving away insider knowledge. If someone gets wind of this you could be fired due to gross misconduct, and send to jail even if you no longer work for them. It states so in your contract and leaving docs so do not do it.
I am amazed and disappointed that Martin asks this of us, to comply we would have to break the law. If any of the lenders get wind of this thread then this site could be shut down faster than you could say 1 2 3. I would not jeopardise my future for this.
You know that you are not allowed to pass info like this on to the general public as it might help the fraudsters get an inside view of the banking procedure. You might not care if the bank or building society gets hit by fraud but its not nice if the general public gets hit by fraudsters who will then plunder their accounts and it will be a lot of hassle for them to prove it was not them themselves who did the dirty deed.0 -

strange, i said that earlier
what i would say though is that i am only answering where i feel the information requested is generalised, so not in breach. that i find acceptable.0 -

You clearly don't work for a bank, nor have had your CRA report from one of the three major players. The minimum you pay from any of them (which, individually, does not give you a full picture,) is £2.
IT USED TO BE £1, WENT UP SOME YEARS AGO.0 -
I have my mortgage, which is fully up to date. I have my MBNA card with a 2.5K limit, which is clear. I have a contract mobile phone and a store card again all up to date and no problems.
Both my equifax and experian files are fine! nothing at all which is negative!
Its as if Barclays arnt seeing what I am seeing when i got my files from the CRAs!
My SIL had a similar problem. She took out an offset mortgage with her husband, and at the same time decided to open a Barclays current account. Even though she earned a six figure salary, had no debts and a perfect credit record, Barclays would only open a basic account with an Electron card. Every time she enquired, the CS person would tell her that the computer declined and there was nothing they could do.
She had to wait a year before they would let her upgrade to a debit card! Even now, she qualifies for a Platinum current account, but the computer system won't allow it. Madness!!0 -
I went into my local Lloyds branch to deposit a cheque (I usually just drop it off cashpoint) and surprise surprise the nice lady over the counter said that there is a note on their computer that said they should ask me in for account review the next time I am in.
And thanks to the information on this thread, I kindly rejected her account review offer. hence in my view not only did I not wasting my time, I also save the staff time.
Thanks to all.0 -

The direct debit is unaffected by overpayments and so would come out as normal next month. There may be a few pounds or pence of interest to be added and so you might find that the following month the direct debit will claim the last amount owing of a few pounds and odd pence.
Hope that makes sense!Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -

I currently have a platium account with lloyds which i pay £15 a month for (this has risen from £7 then £10 now £15) i am no longer prepared to pay this charge each month for a bank account that i dont use the extras (travel insurance, breakdown cover) BUT i do use the £250 overdraft which comes with this account. I am frightened that if i change back to a current account i wont get this ammount of overdraft - but how could they refuse me if its decided on a credit score - then surely my score would be the same as nothing has changed apart from i refuse to pay for a bank account.
Hope this makes sense - can anyone from lloyds advise on this please.
If you don't want the Platinum account you can ring up and downgrade. Your eligiblity for an overdraft won't be affected and your overdraft will be reviewed as normal when it's next due.
The only difference will be that you will only have £10 interest free as opposed to the £250 interest free, but if you are not using any of the other insurance related benefits then you will be saving money.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -

Calm down, calm down, no one is asking anyone to give us codes to banks safes or anything like that. The banks have our money. I don't think that they should be allowed to have any secrets or discipline anyone for giving us information on how they deal with (A.K.A. screw) their customers...... All is fair in love and banking :T0
