Mine are a nightmare! I have 2 girls ages 8 and 5!
They have me running ragged most mornings to get them to school on time! My eldest is a bit spacey so will leisurely take her times in the morning and will do things at snail pace or get distracted.
While I am chasing the eldest around to make sure she is ready, the second I take my eyes off my youngest, she is playing with her toys and her clothes are still exactly where I left them on the bed!
So it's this game of back and forth all morning!0 -
My mornings are pretty mad too.
Get up at 6.30, wash, dress. At about 6.50 go downstairs and make tea for myself. Usually I either empty the dishwasher or put a clothes wash on now.
7.00 Start porridge in microwave then first attempt to wake DS1 (18), DD (16) and DS2 (14). Eat breakfast, then second attempt to wake the living dead.
7.15 If DD and DS2 are up, they can catch the bus outside our door. Start car now if it's frozen, then drag/boot any remaining teenagers out of bed.
7.25 Start giving 5 minute warning, brush my teeth, make my bed.
7.30 Leave for work. I drop DS1 at a different bus stop while DD and DS2 can be dropped at their train station en route if they didn't get the early bus.
7.55 arrive at work. No wonder I'm kn*ckered before the school day even starts!0 -
Alarm goes off at 6.30. I'm up at 6.45. Make lunches, unload dishwasher, take a cuppa back upstairs. Shower and fight with the bed head. Start trying to rouse kids at 7.15. Pop back at 5 minute intervals til they are up. DS in shower and then gets dressed in room. DD comes down and watches TV. Breakfast made and delivered to each room at 7.50 (easier to keep them separate-less arguments). DD gets dressed s.l.o.w.l.y at 8.15. Bags ,coats and out of the door at 8.30. Could probably do it in less time but don't like the stress -this works for us and we are usually sitting outside school waiting for it to open.
I don't have a problem with TV in the mornings. Dont have time myself in the week but DD is better with it. She wakes up slowly without any bother and it's usefull to have chunks of time that kids understand. Saves clock watching. As soon as Sponge Bobs finished were off.....0 -
Up at 6:45, kettle on, porridge on stove.
Get myself dressed, get 3 year old and 6 yr old up.
Clothes are ready and laid out the night before.
I get dressed while they are eating.
Then i put on a load of washing, put away clean washing, do washing up.
All while shouting at them to hurry up!
I help 3yr old with clothing but 6yr does for herself but v v v slowly grrr.
She has issues with her top button both undoing it or doing it up.
She also cannot do a tie but needs to learn as when in juniors she has to have a "real tie" and not elastic!
We are out the door by 7:45 to get the 2 buses to school.
I would love to have a chilled morning and must admit i am so envious of your having your parents to help with the school run.

Where is an 'I am mega envious of you' icon when you want one
What you are missing is kids like mine who need a rocket up their derrieres just to get up and dressed, have brekkie, brush their teeth and hair and get coats and shoes on.
If I was not constantly keeping an eye on them and cajoling them along we would be hard pushed to be out the door on time. Worst hour of my day by far. Going to work and teaching 36 kids is a total doddle in comparisson. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
5.15 Alarm goes off.
Lie in bed for 10 mins trying to get motivated to get up.
Go downstairs, and either let the cat in or let the cat out depending on what she wants.
Feed Cat
Put kettle on
Put fire on
Pack youngest daughters lunchbox, leave at front door
Put schoolbag at front door
put shoes at front door.
Sort out my food stuff to take to work
If monday, sort out partners food stuff to take to work.
Go upstairs, wet hair, get washed, dry hair.
6am go downstairs, get oldest daughter breakfast and fresh orange, wake her up, she insists on being woken up at 6.
Put makeup on get dressed, check daughter is really awake, get a lift to work at 6.40.
Partner leaves later so gets my younger daughter up, and she gets dressed etc, he sees her out for school at 8.40, older daughter gets bus at 8.10.0 -

On the TV/no TV debate, my two are allowed TV from 7-7.30 (Adventure Time is the current choice) but only because they're usually dressed and ready by then and just waiting for me. If there's any tardiness in them getting ready then the TV goes off and doesn't go back on until they are dressed. Once their programme has finished I tend to put it over to the Beeb just for the headlines and weather before we head out at 7.40.
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0
