I loathe mornings and I only have 1 child.

My 6 year old would sleep till noon if she was allowed, she's a whingy moanface in the am's, without fail. If it's a breakfast club day (I have college) then I leave her to the last possible second in bed (usually 7:45) and we are out the door by 8:10 (breakfast club just 5min walk away) normal days, I get her up at 8:20, she moans her way through eating breakfast, moans about wearing school clothes, then harps on about the "feel" of her socks or tights....whinge whinge whinge whinge moan - we are normally late on those days, my head usually wants to explode with her moaning in the am's.....

I thought it was only my daughter that moans about the feel of socks and tights, glad it's not just me

I have DTs in reception. DT2 will wake at 5.30-6 and call from his bedroom 'is it 7-oh-oh yet?' DT1 wakes after 6.30. At 7 (oh-oh) I admit defeat and go downstairs. I take their uniform to warm on the radiator. They have a mug of milk less what goes on their cereal. I have tea and make packed lunches, sort out book bags etc. At 8 (oh-oh) we brush teeth, wash and dress. Out the door by 8.30.
  • I have 2 girls, almost 13 and 10.

Set table for breakfast the night before.

Up at 7.20 and have shower. 7.30 wake girls and back into bathroom to do teeth and make up. 7.40 tell girls to get up. Go downstairs and take clothes from line and put in dryer to finish off. Take laundry from machine and put on line. Prepare lunch for youngest and pack my own lunch. 13 year old takes school dinners.

Girls come down and put out own breakfast. I get cereal. Girls put away breakfast dishes and go upstairs to make beds and do hair while I wipe down table.

8.30 Shout up to hubby to get up then out the door, pick up neighbours daughter and do school drop off.

Get to work at 8.45 and finally get a cup of tea.

Usually goes to plan although there are days when girls bicker so much I could scream.
  • I have 3 children to get to school!

I get up at 6am, get lunchboxes done, put washing on and sort out anything that needs sorting!

I then workout for 45 mins, shower and get dressed and wake the children up between 7-7.30am, breakfast them and get them washed dressed (well the younger 2!) scream several times at the teen, and then by 7.30 threaten no pocket money EVER and she normally surfaces.
    €€
It's normally very organised and I normally have 15 mins to sit down and read with the little 2 before leaving at 8.40am.

Just my son and I living here at present.

Dinners, bags and clothes are ready to be grabbed before I go to bed.

I get up at about 7, get washed and dressed for work, get him up, ask what he wants for breakfast, go make it and my cuppa as he washes, dresses and comes down. Breakfast is on the table for him at about 7.30.

We leave at 8.15. Once he has finished breakfast, been upstairs, brushed his teeth and settled himself on the settee with his school bag and dinner by his side and his coat and shoes (and hat, scarf and gloves at the moment!) on, his time is his own to watch television, be it 7.45 or 8.12.

I drink my tea with him as he eats, get dinners from the fridge and bag them up, brush my teeth and sort my hair and face out in this time.
  • In my house there is only myself and my DD who is 8 to get sorted, partner leaves at 6.00 for work and DS is at uni.
DDs alarm goes at 7, she is normally awake before then but stays in her room reading, as soon as her alarm goes off she comes in to me, puts the tv on and jumps into my bed for a cuddle. I go downstairs and make my coffee and her hot chocolate, while I am waiting for the kettle to boil I empty the dishwasher. Take drinks upstairs and jump back to bed for 5 mins with DD.
Have my shower, she is normally getting dressed (clothes laid out previous night). Dry my hair, get dressed, make beds, go downstairs and get DDs breakfast ready while having another coffee, she eats her breakfast while i am getting lunch box from fridge into her bag, getting my bits together, coats, gloves etc by door.
She does her teeth and hair, I put all dirty dishes in dishwasher, might get something out of the freezer for tea, feed cat, open curtains then were ready, out the door by 8.30 for the 2 minute walk to school and work (I work at DDs school!)
All very calm and organised usually!
  • Some mornings can be great others not so.

Have two great kids who get on fantastic but some morning, usually Mondays after a busy weekend they just don't want to get up or get ready or help each other.

No TV until washed, dressed and fed is our top tip.
  • I recognise the 7 oh oh clock thing, my son wakes up at 6am but has a digital clock in his room so he knows not to come out until 6:45am at the earliest, t.v goes off when he has to get ready and pack-lunches for son and hubby are made before i go to bed the night before so i guess that's could also add to why its not madness for me.

As for the person who commented on the school run in PJ's i think the only difference is we now have leggings but then as I don't wear PJs in bed it wouldn't be a pretty sight to go out in my bed clothes lol!

Lunches, uniforms etc are all done the night before.
DH wakes us all up when he leaves for work at 7am.
We all promptly roll over and go back to sleep:D

DS1(13) gets up at 7.20 and gets himself organised. I get up at 7.40 and check he has brushed his teeth, doesn't have hair sticking up etc:rotfl: Wake the younger ones at 7.50, DS1 gets the bus at 8am.

DS2 (7)takes about 10mins to 'come to' but once he has he is ready to go by 8.20,he's a good lad.

DR(5) is a blimmin nightmare some mornings she hates getting up, and she can just faff so much. She usually ends up eating breakfast while I plait her hair. It's a good day if she hasn't had a grump about something.

Leave house at 8.45 for the short walk to school.

I've NEVER had a problem with rush and fluster in the mornings. I've always expected the kids to be self-sufficient and responsible for getting themselves prepared for the day. I've honestly NEVER checked a morning school bag or PE Kit! From the beginning, they learned quickly that if they weren't organised, they would get in trouble at school.
They ask (with a reasonable time scale - NOT2 hrs before) for PE Kits to be washed and they always are. Soooo....

    Daughter 15, Son 14,
Dogs get me up around 4.30am. I potter down stairs and let them out. While kettle boils, I lay out some lunch box stuff and the evening bus fare. (I Don't MAKE sandwiches or anything, it's fruit, cheese, crisps and bottled water etc)

Switch heating on and curl up with dogs and tea, watching whatever I recorded on the TV night before (because I fall asleep around 8pm due to getting up so stoopidly early!!)
I hear kids alarms around 6am.
6-6.30am is my slot in the shower.
From 7-7.45 I'm at the computer organising work for the day ahead, sending e-mails etc.
Kids appear at 7.45 looking bright and (even though I'm biased) GORGEOUS, all ready for the day.
Into car at 7.50 for 15 minute drive to school. Whole journey is full of chit-chat about the day ahead, which bus they want to catch home, any after school appointments.
I get home 8.30 relaxed and ready to start work.

My children stay with their Dad every other weekend and school mornings THERE are "CHAOTIC" according to them!

    I'm VERY smug, yes :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
