but asked me not to put Supermarket Petrol in it again!

Are they willing to put that in writing? Better, are Peugeot themselves willing to put that in writing?

    This is ridiculous.

If it were supermarket fuel then presumably Its only Peugeot’s that wont run on it as the last time i was down Tesco's filling station there were all manner of cars in there and I am not seeing an increase in cars broken down beside the road.

My Diesel transit gets fed BP diesel and has run for 7 Winters now with no issues.

The answer then if you want a diesel vehicle is surely to not buy a Peugeot unless you live within a couple of hundred miles of the equator. Not much of an ad for their cars is it?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Well in past I have had a number of Peugeots and never had problem using supermarket fuels.
After reading this though I would NEVER buy another Peugeot again.
If a manufacturer says you cannot use fuel which half the country must use then their engines must be crap.

In the north east there have been too many cases of this , mainly on newer diesel cars, however in some cases it has been found to be water in the fuel and in others some other contaminant.

If you drawn some fuel out of the tank into a clear beaker you will see, once it has settled, a layer separate sitting on top of the diesel or settle to the bottom.

My own son has problems when using Tesco diesel from his local supermarket and Tesco seems to be the worst offender in this area however there have been cases from Sainsburys and Morrisons.

As we are told that the fuel all comes from the same depots it is most likely to be water contamination caused by not removing water from the supermarket tanks on a regular basis.

Pug diesel engines are used by numerous manufacturers so if supermarket fuel was the problem then it would be effecting ford citreon etc but there is nothing to suggest that.

Next thing they will be saying is you can only use the higher grade fuels at premium prices.

However, it seems to be Kia dealers and not Kia themselves that are blaming supermarket fuel.

On the Kia Sportage forum, the myth that the problem is restricted to cars run on supermarket fuel has been pretty much busted.

Supermarkets account for about half of all fuel sales in the UK, most supermarkets have modern forecourts, small to medium tanks (to take advantage of frequent changes in oil spot prices) and get frequent, fresh deliveries. If manufacturers are going down the route of blaming fuel for their component failures, we'd be seeing tens of thousands of these cars broken down around the filling stations.
It all complies to the same standard and while some people will swear they can tell the difference from blend to blend in their cars, modern ecus suggest otherwise. It's the same octane/cetane rating so I'd wager the excuse was thought up by a terrible PR department with no technical input whatsoever.
