    Yes I agree they are.
The older person like ourselves, have been hit harder than any other sector of society. No return on savings, cost of living through the roof and we have to live on a fixed income.

Seems that you have no compassion for your elders.
    Typical of today's society.

hit harder than anyone else?????? cost of living is the same for everyone I think I vaguely remember what savings are !

I save any compassion for those who really deserve it.

You seem to have missed the many discussions over the past 12 months that even the government accept that pensioners have been the hardest hit.

Compassion should exist for everyone that is less fortunate than yourself. It is not a commodity that you can choose who to give it to. It's called a caring society.
  • Hello to all and I do hope you don't mind me jumping on your post.

I wondered if anyone knows of any similar organisation that can help with my situation. I am a disabled single mother of two children, aged 11 and 13.
Is there a fund we could maybe access, in particular to take a small break.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions :)
#2022 There is definitely something else when we die. I know what I saw! :)

Having admitted that you have taken the Michael out of the system for so long under so many pseudonyms Andy I feel that you deserve zero compassion.

    Thanks
We aren't - we saved hard whilst I was working. If you can't help your kids out what else is there?

    Payout? I wish!

Alter Ego? Now you have me totally confused? I may be getting old but I do know who I am and have always been.

Just the same as we know who you are and have always been :D
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
  • I love the family fund and they have been a godsend to my youngest 17 . My only problem is what happen next year as his needs have not changed. Is there a charity that goes 18 -25 maybe .

    Ah there you go.

There is a need for all groups no matter what the age.

There is no charity like the family fund for age 18+ and if your child goes to work they will be expected to hand over a huge chunk of their wages + DLA to social services if they need adjustments done on the home/help with personal care. I spent over half of my wages on personal care.

That is terrible. I can understand the DLA part, but why your income?

I suppose it comes back to the argument that sitting at home with Jezza claiming all and sundry will see the work done and personal care paid for by the good old taxpayer.

If you are disabled AND with little income, because you try to be independant, there should be a fund to call upon.
