  • Not sure but it may depend on what you are applying for. One year we got a computer but that was sourced and sent direct from a supplier that deals with the Family Fund so we didn't get a card or voucher.

This year we got a gift card for Argos for a games console.

  • Hi Kenzer,
The Family Fund are currently using Argos for all kitchen appliances (white goods) and televisions. We use Stone Computers for tablets.
    India,
If you are applying for the first time, it can take up to 4 months for the whole process. If you have applied before, it can take 8-10 weeks but we do process them as soon as we possibly can.
You can find out more via our Facebook or website familyfund.org.uk

    Thanks
    Family Fund
  • I'm currently filling out my application, never applied before. Ds 1 diagnosed with asd last July, ds2 having diagnostic appointment tomorrow suspected autism ( quite severe as has little communication). I've had the application half filled for a few months. I am unsure what to ask for. Trying to think of something they would both get benefit out of but age difference is 6 years (9 & 3). Am I correct its one application per household, id probably find it easier doing 2 smaller requests. What type of things do people get ? Nanny just bought them a trampoline. How much do people normally ask for ? Don't want to seem greedy but just have no idea.
Busy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:

Is there anything you actually need?

In the past, the Family Fund have helped our family with driving lessons, white goods, holidays, a special needs car seat for escapee son :rotfl:, and travel expenses to hospital (I was married at the time, and although our income was low, it was above the rate set by the government to claim back travel expenses. As we were at the hospital so frequently, and for so many months, FF paid £300 travel costs for us. It made a massive difference).

  • Whilst I fully acknowledge the good work that the Family Fund do, what about the old codgers like my wife and I who need help? Computer? New mattress? Plus a load of gear out of the 'Safe Hands' catalogue?

And if anybody tells me to go to Social Services - we have! We have a care manager that has been appointed for us, but all that we are told is that there is no money available - here is the catalogue!
