Have just had a text from Mr T saying that my delivery due tonight 8-10pm has been cancelled due to the weather and to re-place the order when the weather improves in my area.
For all I know it could be springtime before "the weather improves in my area"
Is there any good will gesture for cancelling delivery ?

Stop moaning about not getting phone calls. We start our deliveries from 8am. Those customers will be contacted first. Everytime someone calls the call centre asking if delivery will happen we have to stop phoning customers deal with that enquiry checking where customer is, sometimes calling the driver phoning customer back while the customer due a 8am delivery still not been told! We deliver to over 300 Customer a day!
Yes we also had new customers doing first time orders or in countryside expecting us to make it. They didn't get it. Lesson learnt I hope.
I was witness to a serious accident of a delivery van crashing into 4 cars after losing control on a hill (and missing my delivery van in the process). Conditions weer not suitable so drivers are risking it trying to deliver food.
Maybe if we all supported or local shops before they closed down you lot wouldn't have a problem getting supplies to keep you going????
And if your roads doesn't get treated then do it yourself, rally your neighbours and clear it. It honestly takes very little time to do the patch in front of your house (and maybe a neighbour who disabled as well) so blaming the delivery driver for not making it up your Road is basically your and your neighbours fault.
I managed to deliver to most customers. One that I didn't was a private Road owned by everyone it was sheet ice not safe to walk on let alone carrying or driving shopping. So I refused it. Went back two days later to a load of abuse so I told the customer it was actually me who tried to get there and explained the situation. "I paid for you to deliver it" actually wrong on both times it was free delivery. She wasn't paying a damn thing.
I do not get paid enough. If I'm injured I can lose my job. I don't even get thanks from my managers, but I do get the list of complaints from customers which goes on my records.
Think about it before you moan. Online shopping is a luxury most people never had before and we all managed just fine before it came along.
sure you're appreciated really!!!0 -
Hi Everyone
I was due to get an Abel & Cole delivery on Wednesday. Usually he delivers very early. I was concerned about him trying to get up my drive with his van. In weather like this I leave my car on the main road and trek up and down. Although we had cleared it on the Sunday it snowed again on the Tuesday and I wasn't sure what it would be like by the Wednesday morning.
I phoned up Customer Services to let them know about my drive, it is very steep and bends. They reassured me that the drivers are well kitted and I would be called if they couldn't get to me. By 1pm I hadn't had a call but the doorbell went. The lovely driver had walked up my drive with a shopping trolley with my order.
I was very grateful. We shouldn't just solely rely on delivery drivers, if we don't want to go out in this weather why should we expect someone else to do it for us at a huge risk. Nowadays with fridges and freezers we can be more prepared. We all knew there was going to be snow on Friday so we could have been a bit more prepared. Like others have said 'What did we do before home deliveries' !
It would be good if there was more communication from the supermarkets. I had a very poor experience with Asda, and the customer service manager was extremely rude to me. He couldn't have cared less about my missed/lost delivery.
Anyway, thanks to all of you out there who managed to get to work despite the weather and kept everything going. Especially those who work in the essential services.:T0 -
Thanks.surfsister wrote: »my mate got£15
Not asking for compensation at all , just thought that they might waive the delivery charge on the next order. After all , they did send a vague text cancelling it but their website said deliveries were as normail in my area.Just think it could have been handled a lot better by a big company.
Meant that I didnt get my quarter panda for my tea that Evening.
Anyway , now the snow/bad weather has gone it should all go back to normal ( floods permitting ?)The truth shall set you free.....................0
