Tesco cancelled delivery

We've had snow for about a week now.Weather forcasters have predicted it and you can pretty much check the next 5 days forecast on any site.
My only gripe was that I thought Tesco could have had better communications regarding deliveries. There wasnt anything about cancelling orders on my order page.Like I say , I received a text cancelling my order this morning but the website states that deliveries are normal for my area.
Other posts stating stuff about compensation ?
I thought Tesco might waive the delivery charge on the re-placed order or next order as a goodwill gesture , thats all.Sure a lot of MSR's would have had the same thought. The truth shall set you free.....................0 -
make sure you put some white whine with your order this time!just in case you need to know:

I know its annoying that some doesn't get phone calls about the status of your deliveries. I work for one of the supermarkets as an online driver, the amount of people that put the WRONG phone numbers in or don't even answer it is the main reason why so many don't get told. Also don't forget same stores delivery 100's of orders a day and may only have ONE phone to deal with it. Every phone call that goes to the call centre ends up getting put to the store, so the store have to put phoning customers up to deal with customers phoning in, most likely on top of drivers contacting the store asking for help etc etc!
It becomes a NIGHTMARE in this situation, so be polite, everyone will try their best. But don't get offended if the person trying to sort things out is in a bad mood because they feel everyone is complaining at them, you can only take so much. The amount of abuse I seen customers having a go at myself and others over bloody food which you should not be run totally out of and relying on delivery in the WINTER is crazy!!!! Even those who cannot get to the store - what the hell did you do before deliveries?!!!? Think about it!
And as for the "I pay for it to be delivered" rubbish - most orders are done on free delivery days and paid ones barely cover the fuel costs - so NO you don't pay for it at all.....
Also doesn't anyone consider drivers and shoppers have to get to work first to actually do the shops and delivering? Staff are specially trained for this, you can't just pull some random person elsewhere in the building without training and stick them in a van in icy/snow conditions and expect them to do it.
On top of that drivers that DO get to you, why can't you clear your path!!!!
Rant over :-)
By the way - I did my deliveries today bar one..... difficult but I didn't get any thanks for making the effort.0 -

I too had an Ocado delivery yesterday. I ordered it for 7.3am, realistically not expecting them to turn up until lunch time, If at all! There I was still asleep at 7.20am and woke with a knock at the door! It was the I Ocado delivery driver, David. I cannt believe that they managed to deliver on time yesterday. I thanked him very much
But jokingly told him off for being so efficient! All there and
not one item missing or wrong on a £100 shop. Ocado you are the best ever. Always. Thank you .0 -
Maybe those complaining about not recieving their shopping should find themselves sliding sideways down a hill in a 3.5 ton van and wondering if there guna stop at the bottom, thats before you start to think how your actually guna get back up the hill afterwards. Also the 20 "new customer" orders a day extra because they obviously think its too dangerous for them to go to the supermarket themselves, but its ok coz the home shopping van is going to fly there.
We have had at least one van stuck every day this weekend and we live in an area that doesnt get a vast amount of snow either. Trust me the managers dont take it lightly cancelling orders but they have to put the best interests of their staff before anything else.
Also if the driver has a bump on the way to delivering your shopping, then that driver has to also declare that accident on their own personal insurance for their personal vehicle, thus putting it up in price and they dont get paid any extra for that risk than someone sat on a checkout.0 -
I had a 12.00 - 2.00pm slot booked with Asda for Saturday but got a phone call from the local store in the morning to say they could not deliver because of the weather and the van breaking down. I was given the option of delivery the next day, cancellation or picking up the order in store. I opted for delivery the next day on the Sunday and luckily they were able to do this. I had paid a £5.00 delivery charge and was wondering whether to ask for this to be waived or at least half of it. I feel that Asda had plenty of warning about the snow coming and could have put strategies in place to cope a bit better. I do not live in a rural area, just 2 miles away from the local store. However, I was pleased to see that when my shopping was delivered there were two staff in the van rather than just one poor girl on her own struggling.0

Its not failure to deliver I get that.
Its the bad communication I cant stand.
My freind had sainsburys order and they strung her along,
she rang in morning to check her afternoon delivery was ok and they said yes fine then cancelled leaving her no food.
I do occasional online order myself as dont drive, good discount codes offers.
My fave are waitrose or ocado but never orderded during snow,

Exactly my point. The communication from Mr T's wasnt the best at all.Cancelling with a vague text saying reorder when weather improves in my area , then the website postcode checker stating my area is having normal deliveries that day.Unlike some of the other OP's posts stating that I only care about my chocolate biscuits being delivered to have with my coffee and questioning which planet I'm on , I fully understand people having to deliver items in this weather. My post was to highlight the poor communication from Tesco I felt they gave. The truth shall set you free.....................0
