Thanks Lucky - she seems fine and chipper this morning & slept through until half 7 so I am happy with that. Her little bum still looks super sore though :(

I also overslept, since I forgot to set my alarm.... Cue running around like a headless loon this morning. I'm sure I've forgotten something, like my trousers  - ok, maybe not trousers... but the last time I forgot something I only worked out when I got home that I'd had my cardigan on inside out all day & had forgotten my make up.

    Best get to work... :(

Well my day turned out to be rather exasperating all together. Start as you mean to go on and all that. My boss has missed out some figures after botching the company bank statement over to me in several pieces & now I can't make the figures add up. Stressed me out rather a lot & I ended up having to switch to decaf & take some painkillers after a 3 hour meeting ran straight through lunch :(

Got home to my beautiful little lady & she is much better today than yesterday so that is at least one good thing. Had leftover stew again (very MSE 3 days in a row) & am now heading off to bed nice & early for once with DH in tow ridiculously early for him due to lack of internet GB left & 4 days til our allowance renews!

HAW I have been catching up with your diary but have only got to page 12 so far & don't want to post without the full story. More catching up tomorrow when I actually get a lunch!! :D:D

    Night all x

I am so frustrated with a lack of internet. On tenterhooks as to whether I am allowed to go on my laptop in case DH is then unable to get on his precious games. Plusnet are very good, if you don't count the fact I have had to have 4 new routers in 6 months & can't do anything online if DH is online on his playstation  oh and the fact that they automatically add a £5 charge for 5gb of usage if you go over a 60gb limit which we have never managed until now. At least there is a system in place where I can ban them from adding any usage & the internet will just die at 60gb; will be doing that on Monday when my allowance renews. The bill is going to be murder this month as they haven't set up my direct debit right & so are taking a card payment with a £1.50 charge:eek:

Enough grumbling on about that anyway.... today I earned myself a shiny new £10 note by emptying out my cupboard into a womans handbag! :rotfl:I posted on a facebook group trying to offer my old books a couple of months back. I have so many that I won't read again & they are just taking up desperately needed space in my overflowing cupboards. So anyway a woman contacted me saying she was interested & could see from the pic that there were a few she would like... Cue weeks of tag; she's in but I'm not & vice versa. Today we finally got together & she took the lot!! :T She thinks she got a good deal, which she undoubtedly did, she probably paid 15p per book! But I was going to bag them up & take them to the charity shop on monday for free!! :o:o

And then, because my cupboard was so beautifully empty(ish) I decided to paint it using the tip from Harri-bears website link. The cupboard is about 10 feet tall, 4 doors, all an ugly orange pine.. now a lovely first coat of ultra white emulsion. The hallway which the cupboard is built in looks twice as wide now! Reckon I will be able to find a couple of nice screw in handles to replace the horrible pine knobs & then it will look the proper job after another 1-2 coats of paint :D

I've to update my spends I suppose. Sent DH to get jellytots milk from the pharmacy & he also bought 2 loaves & 6 pints of milk in Mr A's whilst out for the grand sum of £3.48. And that leaves me with £28.93 to spend on a weeks food for 3 next Friday :eek:

Ooh also forgot to mention :D

Jellytot is a lucky little lady with all 4 grandparents, & 3 great-grandparents that she sees (there is also another great grandfather & even a great-great grandmother on DH's side that we don't see :()

Anyways, she has my parents 'nanny & granddad' and DH's 'nan & grumps'...

She has started calling my dad (grandad) Go-Go :D which he is loving.

Since her entire vocabulary is currently: Daddy, yes, juice, up, hiya, baby, whatizzit - I'm really pleased for him that she names him, whilst being a bit gutted that she still doesn't call me 'mama' but insists my name is 'bwabwa' :rotfl:

Hey Lilt, just caught up with your goings-on this week. Sounds like you've had a real rollercoaster with your little one. Hope she's feeling better now - just makes you feel so helpless when there's nothing you can do to make them better.

Your sponge looked fab, my mouth was watering just from looking at it. God - I wish I could cook!:D

Congrats on selling your books and also on the newly acquired cupboard space. :) Hope the paint thing works for you, as I thought the website had some great ideas. So, if I get this right, what started as 'painting a couple of boxes' has now turned into painting huge pieces of furniture?

Aw this has just reminded me about when Ds1 was little, for the first 2 years he had all 4 Grandparents. My Mum and Dad (though they were divorced) were Grandma and Grandad and the in-laws were Gran and Grandpa. DS1 called my Mum 'Ma-mar' and the inlaws 'Gan and Ampar'. My FIL loved being Ampar and right up until he died when DS1 was almost 5 that's what we called him. I used to make cards for them because you can't buy shops in cards to 'Gran and Ampar'!!

My Dad passed away when DS1 was 2 and I can't think of DS1 ever calling him anything :o.

Hello there Harri-bear! You are so right on the painting front... :rotfl: We decided not to move until next year and so I am trying to cheaply improve our surroundings until we are able to move! And that cupboard was an eyesore. Even the one coat of white paint keeps giving me a lovely thrill every time I see it. The hallway is SO much brighter!! Boxes next!

As for the cooking... this is seriously easy... It takes me just over 10 minutes to whip it up including microwave, thanks to my knowing what 4oz butter looks like & having an awesome little measuring jug that gives different measurements for different ingredients! Fill-her-up & go!
You need two bowls, one smaller than the other (mine was a tupperware tub hence the square finish :rotfl:)
Put some jam or golden syrup or lemon curd or whatever the heck you feel like in the bottom of the smaller tub. Couple of tablespoons, you can always add more later.

In the big bowl mix 4oz sugar (caster or normal granulated!) with 4oz margarine. Once they are mixed together nicely & a creamy consistency, crack in 2 medium eggs. Mix this in quite quickly (it goes quite sloppy) until they are quite well mixed together & then add 4oz self-raising flour (sieved in all in 1 go) and mix it again. Once it is all mixed together nicely scrape it into the tub with the jam/etc in it. Cover the tub in cling film and put it in the microwave for 7-8 minutes. Hey presto!!! Easiest sponge pudding ever. Goes lovely with a bit of custard.
Aw this has just reminded me....
I love those incidental memories. I remember my nephew telling me he got his flumb stuck in a boggart (thumb in a yoghurt!) and quite earnestly explaining to me once how his mummy put piglets on her back because it was hurting. Repeated questioning didn't change his mind, it was definitely piglets on her back. Eventually discovered she was taking painkillers and had told him she was taking tablets for her back:rotfl::rotfl: he's 10 and he now calls them 'paglets'.

Also the woman I sit with at work told me she needed to work on her cherry pies the other day. Apparently her daughter had chubby little legs when she was younger and my colleague used to tickle her knees and say 'chubby thighs, chubby thighs' to which her daughter responded quite indignantly that she did not have cherry pies!

I cannot wait for these things to start happening with Jellytot!:T:T

P.S sorry about your dad/FIL. Not a nice thing for me to think about my dad not being around :( we are so far away that I spend a lot of time with Jelly on facetime on my iphone to their ipad to make sure they get as much time seeing her as possible.

I also make cards, have ever since I started making cards from 'the bump' - I've gotten quite good at it ;) I usually take paint prints of Jellys hands etc & make flowers out of pipe cleaners. Mr Maker has nothing on me :D - have the same problem though. Nan & Grumps?!? Hahaha... Go-go is definitely not going to be on any cards is it :D

    Todays update:
It started well. I used my redspottedhanky evouchers in order to get a free £7 trip to see my friend. We then dropped in at the garden centre to pick up a cake... HUGE mistake!! She spent £68 and I spent £15.40

I wish I had much to show for it, but I got 4 cakes, a pack of ginger biscuits & two coaster/fridge magnets (they multi-task!) which have funny slogans on them :D

My favourite says 'Thou shalt not weigh more than thy fridge' - made my friend get one which totally epitomises her.... 'Home is the place you store your stuff while you are out getting more stuff'

Not very MSE really but I am still up for the week having earned £8 from Nurago, £10 selling books I was going to give to charity & £15 on a breadmaker I've not used in 4 years :D

  • When my sis was little she started running around shouting 'wasbugga'! We literally had no clue till she pointed out that there was a wasp which was buzzing! She's 28 and I'm 34 and we still call them wasbuggas :rotfl:. Though not infront of the kids as it sounds rude :p.

It's so nice that you get to spend time with your family even if it is online. I'm lucky enough to live near my lot and spend quite a bit of time with them. My Dad was an alcoholic and as weird as it sounds, death was his release, so I'm comforted that he got his wish. FIL is a big miss, he died of cancer in 2009 while I was pregnant with DS2. Makes you realise how precious life is.

Love the sayings on the coasters :D
