Like the sound of that recipe thingy, Lilt. Just been to my freezer and it's looking like a barren landscape at the moment.:) Do you remember that advert for eggs, where they open the fridge and they've got 1 egg, a mouldy bit of cheese and some shrivelled up onion ...cue music... ta dah, a wonderful gourmet omelette :D

Think you should stick with the blue and white for the boxes. Do you think emulsion would work? I was just thinking the tester pots are quite cheap and you wouldn't need many.

    Hello HAW!
Thank you for dropping in. And ushering in the 2nd page of my diary in style :rotfl:

My mug is my pride and joy! It proudly proclaims 'still bouncing' on the other side & I have to say that pretty much fits in with my entire ethos!

And when there is a tigger about, there is definitely serious havoc :D - how intriguing, have you got a diary *goes off snooping* - I'm sure your life is just as hectic as mine in all different ways!!

Harri-bear!!!! - that is an amazing link!!!! Thank you so much for that - I have sandpaper, and white emulsion! I can definitely stretch to a few tester pots AND they have a lot more colours :D

NOW I am Tiggerific!! So excited :D

    Happy sunny hump day!!

I'm an eeyore fan actually! Only brought 1 of my mugs to OHs house when I moved in. Didn't think he'd appreciate my entire collection :o Although I could probably match 1 eeyore mug to 1 of his motorbike collection!
The mug I have says 'does anyone happen to have a hug with my name on it?' :D

Every day dilemma is my [STRIKE]place where I run off to scream every now and again[/STRIKE] diary :D Tis a bit all-over-the-place sometimes, so apologies in advance, but you're very welcome anyway :)

Loving the link too! Very snazzy! :)

I love the fact that Weds is hump day... although we call it BonJovi day in my office *sings* "Whoaaaaaaaaaa we're halfway there...." - as Weds is the beginning of my working week!! I do a Weds to Fri which is excellent in so many ways, I can't begin to tell you.

I was/still am so torn between Eeyore and Tigger. I think Eeyore was a big part of my old persona & I kinda pushed him out in favour of super springy bouncy tiggerness :D I do have an equal tigger to eeyore mug ratio though. I made sure to remove all of my lovely mugs when leaving my ex. He got everything else including my beautiful Dobermann, so I was definitely keeping the mugs!!!!

Awwww I'll send you a hug!!! :D My DH actually has a donald duck mug to match my tigger one, which says 'Still angry' on the back - suits him too, grumpy moo!!

I shall stalk your diary later on when I get home from work. Thank you for the link! :)

Harri -Potatoes!!/ I am currently loving this website. I am left-handed and tragically bad at peeling potatoes, so since DH now helps me & doesn't mind doing the odd thing towards dinner, I have bought him his own peeler ;) - I'm trying to replace meat in at least 2 meals per week to try and cut down on costs. I spend an average of about £17-25 on meat per week on a £40 shop. It needs to stop! Anyways, there are some lovely dinners on here. I am particularly excited by the tuna and spinach potato bake I found & the mexican spicy potatoes and egg :D

Tonights dinner is already cooked, leftover red lentil stew cooked with potatoes, courgette, red pepper, carrot, celery & onion. It was absolutely delish the other night so am hoping the flavour will have improved even more in the fridge. My lunch is beans on toast at work but I am not actually feeling that hungry so may just have a slice of toast instead & save the rest for tomorrow.

Got my tax credits renewal documents through the other week & phoned them to fix it all up & give final counts for the year. Received my tax credits award notice through a couple of days ago & read it wrong in a cold sweat. They overpaid us last year.... by the princely sum of £26. So they are taking it back from this years award... which is fine. This years award is basically what we were expecting given what we had been told over the phone, but they also gave us projected details of NEXT years tax credits, from April next year onwards - there is a drop of £150 per month. This is food for thought. Whilst we are currently in the lucky position that we earn more than we spend & are able to save, I need to focus myself on saving as much as humanly possible so that we can move house next year into a bigger place with a garden for Jellytot. I'd like to have enough saved that if the worst comes to worst we can add to our income each month from the savings just to top it up, but I desperately don't want to do that.

Lessons in austerity over the last year should hold us in good stead. I just need to screw my head on properly again & get saving properly, big amounts!!

    Pure homemade indulgence....
    j5glyq.jpg

I made this from scratch this evening after dinner. DH was insisting on watching a tv programme that makes me cringe and I really find it hard to sit through tv programmes that embarrass me. So I got off my bum & made this delightful golden syrup sponge pudding instead! :T:T We've had half of it, as it is a lot bigger than it looks on the photo. So the rest can go in the fridge for tomorrow. Won't be as nice, but is edible & certainly a whole bunch cheaper at under £1 for 4 servings than a trip to the supermarket for some form of pudding which results in a £30 spend on 2 bags of junk which only lasts half a week...:rotfl:

Am trying to plot out a shopping list for the next time we go shopping. I spent £71.50 at Mr A's on my '£40' weekly shop last Friday. I've since spent £16.09 on bits and bobs. So that means this Friday I have -£7.59 to spend:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think we may have to get inventive here. HB's Gourmet fridge leftover omelette springs to mind especially as the egg man is due with 2 dozen large fresh eggs for me. Unfortunately DH refuses to eat eggs in any 'hinky' form. No scrambling, oven cooking, omeletting , mayonnaising or anything other than poaching (til hard) or hard boiling basically.. Bah.

Got enough plain easy-cook rice for 2 meals (though what to have with it is the question), pasta enough for one pasta bake with a jar already in the cupboard. Plenty of potatoes & a whole bag of leeks, so leek & potato soup, enough salad for 2-3 salads & 2 packets of chicken goujons plus 4 wraps & another 8 in the freezer so cheese & chicken mayo wraps with a bit of salad can also be created. A whole loaf of bread left which is great... What to do with bacon & chipolata sausages (other than pigs in blankets which won't make a meal!) - risotto? Have arborio rice somewhere... maybe if I spice it up with some paprika we can have sausage risotto... DH has enough tins of beans & super noodles to cover his lunches & is actually eating cereal for breakfast finally instead of chicken soup...

I think.. we shall be fine. This doesn't take into account no end of frozen potato products, frozen chicken drumsticks, a pack of mince & some frozen pork chops...

So when can I next shop? Friday 14th June... with £32.41. Lets put that in my signature & see how far I get!:rotfl:

  • Pud looks lovely! I'm very jealous as I'm back on the diet wagon. I had fruit and yogurt for mine!

Will your DH eat egg fried rice or is that too much like scrambled egg? Can you do a 'cooked breakfast' for an evening meal with the bacon, sausage, eggs (poached if you must!) and beans?

What programme makes your cringe? I'm intrigued!

What programme doesn't at some point? :( Tonight it was my usually adored Big Bang Theory. Anything where the characters embarrass themselves usually has me squeaking and wanting to put my fingers in my ears. I have actually been known to stand up & go 'to the loo' in the cinema, just to get away from some supposedly hilarious moment.

The pud was good. I so need to be back on the diet, but I don't have the required willpower. Yoghurt & fruit sounds lovely though. I've some greek yoghurt in the fridge & bananas/apples/blueberries - may have those with breakfast tomorrow morning :D

Ooh a dirty fry up. I've even got some frozen hash browns in the freezer! I can do that.

Now... egg fried rice.. I've fried it before & it ended up being flavourless, cold rice with flecks of scrambled egg in there. He likes egg fried rice if I've paid a fortune for it... I am deifnitely missing something that the chinese take-away do to it when I try. A giant dollop of MSG maybe :rotfl:

  • For plain fried rice as an accompaniment to a meal I literally just cook the rice and as it's ready to drain, scramble some eggs in a pan and then add the 2 together with lots of soy sauce. However, I sometimes do it as a main meal and stir fry lots of veggies before adding the eggs and then the rice and soy sauce. DH also has chicken put through his.

My favourite stir fry sauce to make 'chow mein' is to mix 4 table spoons of sweet chilli dipping sauce with 4 table spoons of soy sauce and then add that to the veg/noodle combo. You could maybe use that as a sauce with the fried rice? Must admit to making the chow mein and fried rice and having them both together :o

Oh that does sound good! Will definitely give that a try, though obviously not with the BBE January 2011 noodles I found in the cupboard the other day... One to add to the list of shopping.. haha!

Have just had to go in & wake Jellytot up (ok she stirred whilst DH was banging his head on his desk due to Call of Duty - I shall bang it for him next time) - I went in to her, & could smell something nasty. She had her bum in the air so touched it & it was damp. Never a good sign when the sleeping bag is wet. I had to bring her out, shaking and sobbing & strip her down then put her through a quick warm shower to clean her up as she has a VERY sore bum. Three different types of cream from the doctors had just about got it back to normal this last few days, only for an upset tummy to strip the skin off her :( back to square one. I got her showered, then wrapped in a towel, sat on the sofa to get her dried & into clean pyjamas. She was looking at me so sadly I have actually just had a little cry now that she is safely tucked back up. My heart is hurting for her, watching her tiny little body and arms shaking in the shower from the pain of her bum. It's really not fair. Luckily she went back to sleep without a problem but I don't know what is causing the tummy upset. I seem to have a touch of it too :(

    Rubbish end of day :(

  • Oh bless her (and you!) nothing worse than when your child is ill or in pain :(

Hope you both get some decent rest tonight Xx
