thinking of you skinty, hope everything goes as planned.
sorry me being a worrywart - been confirmed this is an urban myth
be careful if you are clearing paths, im sure im right in saying if you clear or attempt to clear snow either on your own paths or the public pavements, if someone slips as a result of your work you can be held responsible.
weve got a gravel front so i dont bother, other than to clear the little area of concrete immediately outside the ront door and cover it with salt so it cant refreeze.SPC~12 ot 124

Yes, urban myth. A little salt after clearing might help stop ice building up, though.Bossymoo

Hi all
Sorry if I seemed a tad unsociable yesterday – I really was struggling to even be coherent.:(
Rowan Tree I've done Birsay biscuits occasionally since we visited Orkney, in (I think) 2008; I bought a load of the special Bere flour, which has lived in the freezer since, and they supplied a recipe booklet with it, and that's one of the recipes on it. The biscuits keep beautifully, and if Mr LW is going to be doing 12 hour shifts, he needs something good for his lunch box. We're nearly out of Bere flour now though, so I may have to visit Orkney again.....:rotfl:
In fact, I'll be doing my level best to get ahead this week; I'll only have Mr LW's help for one day over the coming weekend,:( as he's got to go in to the office for a 12-hour shift on Sunday, as they finally have the data-centre move happening. (Unless it all goes belly-up, of course....) and 12-hour shifts thereafter til it's all working properly.
We're as prepared as we can be – there are four frozen Shepherd Spies, he'll take one Sunday, (they have a microwave at work) and an instant soup sachet, some fruit and biscuits, as he won't be home til gone 22:00, and a) I don't want to cook at that time of night, and b) it's not good for him to wait til then for his main meal. If the long shifts go on beyond the Wednesday, we'll have to wing it.:D
Ooh – today's the day for Skinty! Crossing everything I can possibly cross. Betsie I hope all goes well for your SiL, too.:o
Bonnie give 'em hell, mate. I can't help but think that, as a fairly regular charity shop customer, if I were to come in there, I'd be putting myself very much at risk (compromised immune system and all that jazz). Not good, not good at all.
Mr LW has a nasty bruise on his leg – it was only when I saw it this morning (in the bath) and asked him about it that he told me he fell over in the snow yesterday, when he went to get some stuff from the farmers market for us.:( Silly man, why didn't he say as soon as he got in? We could've put some witch hazel on it.DH has spent most of this weekend painting wargaming figures (English Civil War) so is a happy bunny
Must get on- I've already done a WM load of Mr LW's jeans (hanging on A-frames over the bath) and thrown the Dys0n round, as the floor looked a bit bad (still picking up Jessie-hair) so will see how much of the kitchen I can get to sparkle, or at least de-skank.;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
my DH has been occupying himself painting his warhammer figures this weekend. he spends ages looking at different painting tips and techniques on youtube.
ive managed to fill time cross stitching and knitting.
we did have a 2 hour stint in the roomof doom over the weekend so thats looking much better.SPC~12 ot 124
