  • Hi W&M

Thanks for popping by! Isn't it funny how significant turning 30 seems to be?! I'm guessing when you get there it doesn't feel like that at all but for now it's something to aim for! You sound like you are very much on your way to having life sorted though - wife and a mummy, I'm no where near that!! haha! I would like to think my BF will pop the question at some point before I'm 30 but he's just sooo laid back I can't see it happening. Ah well, just need to concentrate on paying off the debts... he's making plenty of headway into his too with only his credit card of £1300 left to pay. Puts me to shame and I'm the one who goes on about it all the time! Hopefully by this time next year we'll be able to start saving but that means I have to start pulling some pretty good amounts of money out of my behind soon!! :o

Need to make my shopping list for this month's meal plan. Seem to eat the same things over and over but not sure what I can do about it!

I was in the same rut with the meals and recently downloaded an app with different recipes ideas. Tonight we had pasta carbonara it was YUM!!

Fingers crossed your BF pops the question soon, maybe you should leave some not so subtle hints such as ring brochures lying around lol x x

  • Haha! I'll keep that one in mind. I can wait another year or so and then I may need to embrace the hinting! Need to pay off debts and start saving before there's any rocks getting put on fingers!!

Waiting to pay my £35 overpayment until Friday as that and some other credit card bill money is say in an ISA, doubt I'll get much interest but some will be better than nothing. Had £5 cashback made payable today too so I have requested that. Will overpay with that as soon as its in my account. Other than that it's my first April NSD today, I think 25 of them is going to be a pretty difficult target to reach for the month!! Will have to be superduper organised and make sure I arrange to buy any necessary things all on one day! Sounds easy :o

  • A second NSD today so that's a couple toward my 25. Going for lunch on Saturday so that will be a spend day, need to make sure I see if there's anything else I need and buy it on the same day. That will leave only two days for the rest of the month where I can spend money :o

Hoping to send overpayments to the BC tomorrow. Won't be much but baby steps, something is better than nothing!!

  • Just sent an extra £35 over to the BC, I think there's £5ish in my change jar and I'm still waiting for the cashback to arrive in my account. That will be a nice extra £10 to make March's overpayment total a nice round £45. Need to watch my spending so badly for the next month, I want to take big bucks off the total not weeny little £s here and there!!

  • Uh oh it's Monday again!! Only a week until payday - getting that annoying feeling of wishing time away so I can make more inroads into the debt. Sending over £5 to the BC today as the cashback still isn't in my account. Don't want to wait until it is! So impatient.

Had a good weekend, spent a bit on Saturday as planned with my friend and picked up a couple of things in town so all my spending was on one day. No clue how I'm going to manage on just 2 more spend days for the entire month. 25 NSDs was ambitious but I need to try real hard to get there! I don't have too much of my £200 budget left anyway so need to concentrate on not going over that so I have a nice overpayment to the BC in May. I managed an 8-in-a-row marathon of NSDs around this time last month so I know I can do it!!

So here's to a whole week spending absolutely diddlysquat!!

    Hello debtfree..

Had a read through your posts and I'm definitely in a similar place to you!

Your posts have really inspired me so far, especially all the little overpayments you send just here and there..definitely made me realise I can do the same!

    Good luck with your journey!

  • Wow thanks for your message HeyJude2013! I certainly don't think I sound inspirational while I'm moaning to myself on here! I've surprised myself with the NSDs and grocery budget planning though. A little bit of effort really makes a big difference and a lot of daily spending is just completely unnecessary!

I've managed all week without spending and shouldn't have to spend in the next few days either. Payday on Monday so will get to sort out some overpayments for April and see where I can cheat beg and steal some pennies from! Seems like a long way until the end of this month and I've only got two possible spend days left, but if I don't have much money left in the budget (which I don't!) I can't afford to spend anyway!!

I do have some good news in that I have negotiated some more overtime at work (seriously never thought that would happen!) so now I can look at working a couple of weekends here and there and earn some extra pennies!! All will be going toward debt repayments. Wonder how much extra I'll get with the new tax allowances too. Time to play with my money saving app and anticipate new DFD!!
