  • Wow I slept badly last night, was up thinking all kinds of carp until gone 7am this morning

Basically I've got it in my head that things are slipping with BF which is complete and utter bull as he loves me I know he does. I think I'm really insecure in myself at the moment as I'm a stone heavier than I should be and have been for some time. I keep moaning about it but actually need to do something about it. When I look in the mirror I feel massively gross :( That's why I didn't want to go out on Friday night even after getting ready. Pretty pathetic! Need to quit whining and sort myself out as I'm the only one who can.

This general down feeling doesnt go too well with trying to pay off the debts and keep motivated about it. All this fortnight we've been off and money has been mentioned pretty much every day when we've thought about what we want to do. Lame but money does make the world go round. Need to keep it in my head that it's a little annoyance now for the next couple of years and then everything will be scrummy just in time for when I'm a "real" adult at 30!!

  • Nowt like payday to make a girl feel better about debt slaying!! Sent an overpayment to BC, not as much as I'd hoped due to me sneaking over last months £300 spending budget but £90 has gone all the same. My fixed DD of £180 will go out near the end of the month as well so it's not all bad. BT'd what was on my spending card (more than usual too cos it had half my BF's holiday spends on it) to take advantage of the 0% until April next year. Next month the money I would have paid off my spends CC will go to the interest gaining part of the BC. That makes sense in my head not sure it makes sense written down haha!!

NW minimum payment has gone out too so updated my signature.

Wondering whether 1st Direct are doing to play ball and let me have a current account with them. Sent the ID they requested on Monday so no surprise I haven't heard from them quite yet. I hear they're good but they can't be that good!!

Last day off work today (apart from the weekend but I would get that anyway!) so just need to make the most of being able to chill out. No doubt I'll go back into the office and have a to do list longer than my leg before I can even blink!!

Yey to payday though :j :j

  • Clearly I was underestimating 1st Direct, my brand new card and account info has just arrived in today's post. Amazing!! Interest free £250 OD is included too so I'll be able to avoid the extra £5 Hfax have just started charging for using their OD!! Seems easy at the moment anyway, hopefully it'll carry on that way and all the DD etc will get transferred ok!! Fingers crossed I get the £100 switching bonus too!!

  • Hello 6 months into the year - time for my 2nd quarter review already!

I've totted up what I've thrown toward the debts in the last 3 months and here are the numbers:

    1. £855 to the BC. Getting toward my pay-off-£3000 target I set myself at the beginning of the year, slowly but surely...

    2. £600.21 has gone off the loan as expected.

    3. £75 minimum payment off the 0% NW CC.

    4. £183.57 toward my laser surgery loan.

So I've pretty much matched the same payments I made in the first quarter. If I keep the BC overpayments at the same rate I'll get through my £3K target.

Scary how much money (£1713.78) I'm throwing toward the debt though, I'd be able to save for a wicked house deposit if I wasn't having to pay everything off first! Ah well, it's completely my own fault, at least when I've paid my debts off I'll be in a position where I'm used to living frugally and I'll be able to put all the money into savings! That's the plan :o

So far this year I've paid £3432.56 in total off the debts

  • Hi debtfreeby30 - I am the same age as you and I feel exactly the same way about how the money spent on paying off debts could go towards a house deposit - not thinking about how much 'dead' money is spent on rent!!!!

You shouldn't feel down about how you look - I also have put on weight recently with my OH but trust me - he probably hasn't even noticed! We women are too self-critical sometimes - so don't give yourself a hard time.

Good luck and I'll be watching your journey with interest! :)

  • Hi CR :hello:

Thanks for popping along - I've had a read of your thread you seem very determined so I'm sure you'll smash through all the pesky debt!!

As long as I'm debt free and on my way to a good house deposit by the time I hit 30 I'm sure I'll feel ok! Got just over 3 years to go and I'm hoping I'll hit my DFD sometime in 2014, I'll aim for it to be as soon as possible!!

As for me being down in the dumps about how I look and feel I just need to get my head into gear and do something about it!! I have nothing to worry about where BF is concerned I'm just doing that annoying female thing of making things up in my head that could be wrong and then worrying about it!! Lame.

Back to work tomorrow, got a couple of meetings and then it'll just be a case of getting together all the things I need to do and prioritise accordingly. Can't wait!! :o

Money wise I just need to get to the end of the month with spending as little as possible. Got a fair bit of food in so I could potentially muddle through. Really really hope I get the £100 switching bonus from 1st Direct quite soon so I can use that to overpay in July :)

  • Hi W&M, thank you for swinging by. We've had a nice couple of weeks off its just highlighted our concentration on money at the moment. Spent a bit too much but hopefully can get through to the end of the month without going over my budget :o

Came back on today to say about my new favourite website (apart from MSe obviously!) it's called Stuffster and I'm sure I'm probably way behind everyone else but it's great! Just sign up and it lets you set alerts on things you want to buy so you get an email if the price drops. I've been adding all my gift ideas and things I buy regularly on to it plus a couple of potential treats (just because they may drop on price doesn't mean I'll actually buy them!) I've already had a couple of alerts with reduced pricing. Seems to work like a charm! What a fab idea. If anyone reading hasn't come across it I'd certainly recommend having a look at it!

  • I've spent money today on various hayfever remedies because I am snotting and sneezing like an idiot :( Fingers crossed some of it works.

Sorted through my toiletries and made a list of everything I've got. Going to try really hard to work my way through them before buying anything I don't need. I shall report empties here and say whether the product is worth buying again or not! Just for my own benefit so I don't "accidentally" buy the same product again.

I have also started on sorting through my mountainous wardrobe which I need to reduce, I bet I only wear a 1/4 of what I own.

I HAVE to start exercising properly and watching what I eat. I'm boring myself with the constant moaning about carrying extra weight so need to shut the eff up and do something about it.

Back to the money saving, my loan payment went out today so I can update my signature! Only 9 months to go now!!!

  • Well today I haven't been sneezing half as much so perhaps the money yesterday was well spent.

I haven't used up any toiletries or been out on my bike. On a more positive note I haven't spent any money so yey for that little victory!!

I did get an email from Stuffster alerting me that my dream Mulberry bag has been reduced by 30% and is just calling out to be purchased. I shall be good and not even consider buying it though! I only set the alert out of curiosity. The Stuffster website works like a charm though, hopefully I'll be getting plenty of alerts saying all my gift ideas have been reduced between now and Christmas!!
