It's a fairly basic instinct to want your child to eat. God knows, parents spend enough time worrying about it. It's a real worry that someone doesn't have the 'time or patience' to ensure their child eats. Christ knows why she had kids in the first place, frankly.

OMG is this for real? What's with the fishfinger!!! Sounds like it was left overs from last nights tea and it bypassed the bin straight into jnr's lunchbox. I really feel sorry for that child because that is not a lunch! No wonder the poor kid doesn't want to eat it!
A decent substantial lunch does not take long to do at all and she needs telling so

You are assuming that this is how her lunches started out. If I heard that a child was a picky eater, and that someone had looked in their lunchbox and seen this, I would assume that this was because mum had discovered that this was something the child would actually eat at school, however unappetising it sounds to me.

I personally would find it quicker and easier to make a ham sandwich for a child and stick it in a lunchbox with an apple and a yoghurt, than I would to be grilling fishfingers the night before and cooling them and packing them, so if mum is lazy my guess is that she would find the same, and that the lunch OP saw was a desparation measure because sandwiches, rolls and wraps aren't being eaten.

This is similar to what I made and I don't see why my friend or her husband can't find time to do it.

Hi OP, like everyone else says, no way should you do this for your 'friend', I can't believe the cheek of some people.

When she mentions it (like she's bound to), say 'Oh, I thought you were joking, I'd never have time to do that!' and leave it with her.

    Damn cheek!!

You are joking right? No one makes their kids lunches like that every day surely? If you're not taking the piss, I think I might revise my view of this thread!

How do lunches like that survive the rough-and-tumble of being carried to (and possibly around) school in a bag?
