I am the official company representative of Scottish Power. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. fishybusiness - have you got a fixed tariff or are you on Standard monthly Direct Debit?
Yes, fixed, it is the Online Fixed Price Energy April 2013 (No Standing Charge).0 -
Scottish Power company representative. Thank you for offering to review this matter for me.
Experience so far suggests that this is a way of trying to hide the matter from public attention.
I happen to be in a fortunate position in that I can if necessary take legal action, and so I am reproducing for all to see a copy of a letter I sent recently to Lynda Clayton, your company's customer relations director:
"Lynda Clayton, customer service director

21 November 2012
Dear Ms Clayton
Please be aware that I am intending to instruct my solicitor to issue an application to the Caernarfon County Court requesting an injunction requiring the following:
You stop from harrassing me further over alleged arrears, and instead -
You must either bring court action for recovery of arrears or permanently withdraw your claim for them (as requested by me in the past).
Must read my meters, or in the event of failure to gain access (which has never been denied) accept meter readings over a free telephone number.
Must keep proper accounts.
Must state clearly the percentages by which charges rise when they do and by which they fall when they do, on the paper account to which the new charges are applied
Must state clearly how charges have been derived from the meter readings, including which meter is economy rate and which non-economy rate.
Must compensate me for losses that have occurred due to the fact that I cannot get a quote from another supplier whilst arrears are alleged
Must clearly print Scottish Power's postal address on all documents demanding money
And probably some other matters.
Yours
(spcustomer)"
They then pnoned me up, but luckily I was not in, and so I wrote:

Dear Gillian
Thank you for your call to my telephone yesterday regarding my letter of the 21st November.
As your company have now built so much mistrust I am not willing to telephone you. You should write so that I have evidence of what you have said.
I am unlikely to answer any mail before the new year.
Yours

I have to go out now, but I will find Gillian's reply soon and post you all the contents of that.
Be very careful with these people.0 -
I am on a fixed rate with SP and have consistent energy usage from year to year.
They still insist on increasing the D/D whenever they can at the 3 monthly review
Prolonged phone calls to the call centre are frustrating as the operators are difficult and can't do simple maths.
There's no point changing suppliers as all the energy companies are in a cartel, as thick as thieves ( which they are)
There's no point in complaining to the energy ombudsman as it is entirely captured by the power companies, rather like a pimp with his prostitutes.0 -
My dd has gone up by 30% even though there has been not much of a change in usage in the last 3 years. The 12 months total includes the quarter Oct-Dec 2011 as the bill was produced in the first week of January. I have paid my last quarter bill and still £180 in credit! There must be a better system to work out the monthly dd?0

Hi
I have been with them just over three months Im on fixed rate and just notices they have put mine up by 20 pound a month... Not impressed at all.0 -
Im with Scottish Power and I have a tariff where I enter the meter readings every quarter and they then do a direct debit for the exact amount. I think this probably isnt the cheapest tariff but it stops them helping their cash flow by taking extra money from me. So therefore is the best option in my mind.0
-
I think I'll take a look at this tariff as I'm getting increasingly worried about what I'm reading on here. I've recently transferred to the fixed tariff till March 2014 but increasing my DD would probably make me overdrawn... I've always transferred money direct from my bank up till now.0
