Do you really think there is a big database with everyones name, address and credit card details? :rotfl:
I try not to presume, particularly on matters I have little knowledge of. That is how a PPC runs its operations.

However, from my own business experience, I'd say it would be stupid to dispose of any personal data (if the law allows them to keep it) just in case it comes in handy.

Given PPCs' reputation for not sticking to the law they are likely to ignore even if the retention of personal data is prohibited and possibly resort to other PPCs records if they want to. Still, this is only my guess.

This is very strange but I think you may be jumping to conclusions that it is a PCN, I wouldn't think even these would stoop so low as to perform this sort of scam tactic.
Have you Parked in the Chimes or other multi-story car park in Uxbridge and used a credit card to pay for parking? It could be that the machine has messed up, just trying to get my head around this I just can't understand it.
Surely they cannot just debit your card without a PIN number, or if they can they need the security number off the back and have to report as customer not present?
If they have just taken money without consent it is fraud surely!

Since it's unclear whether or not the OP actually parked in "Off Street Uxbridge" ...... clarification on that point would help.

and also "Of course that card has been destroyed..." - as a result of receiving this debit on the account? Or previously?

Yes they can. There are some car parks, e.g. Southampton Airport Short Stay, and surely many others, where you just stick your card in the slot, and it debits the amount you owe - no PIN or anything for what can be fairly large amounts of money.

Well, yes. Which is why the OP must find out when and for what alleged charge the amount was taken. He hasn't said whether or not he was in an Uxbridge car park on or about the transaction date. Please give us more details.

That's incredible and very worrying, it makes a mockery of banks assurances that they do everything they can to ensure security.

I was almost certain wherever I had used my card in a car park I had also used my PIN but you have me thinking now!

    Been away recently ??

Are you sure this is not a legitimate charge for airport parking as mentioned by The Slithy Tove (post #15) as APCOA run some of them including LHR

Quote "Within the Airport Services sector we manage operational services contracts at eight UK Airports and many more across 13 countries within Europe."
