I am interested in how you are sure you stretch them in all subjects and ensure they achieve their potential. I certainly would not think that I could do that. I, or other family members could do it in certain subjects, but definitely not across the spectrum or to the depth required to attain the grades required for certain university courses.
You stated you had a daughter with a child, so she is clearly an adult, did she achieve her potential by being home educated?0 -
Wonder how it looks on a CV

Muvver taught me at home at the kitchen table with her pj's on!
Advantages you wouldnt need to do your hair in the morning and could drink copious amounts of wine as no school run get up at 11am slap a poundland maths book in front of kids, neighbours on in 42inch plasma on wall and some bowls with a spoon of pasta for lunch, what an achievement who needs schools :T0 -
Is neighbours still going? Wow, that's my home education for the day!0

There's a difference between a typo and repeated mistakes/laziness.
Ithink you kinda missing the point.
The point was that if people who write on MB's in that way are not to be trusted teaching children because of those flaws then what can we say about the teachers on MB's that do the same?
Either they too must be poor teachers or the whole spelling / grammar on a MB lacks any relevance at all. Either which way, the same argument should be applied to all.0 -

If a teacher taught using textspeak and poor punctuation, she or he would be pulled up and corrected fairly quickly. Who would pull up the home edder, especially one who is under the radar of the LEA?******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -

alternatively the non teacher isnt trying to teach on a MB and is capable of much more than is presented on here.
To link the ability to teach with punctuation on a MB is staggeringly simplistic. To then not apply the logic elsewhere is hypocritical, I'd expect nothing else though from that community.0 -

As opposed to taught by a no mark, straight out of school with no life skills but has read a book. Triffic.
That is the reality of the standard of some teachers.0 -
I appreciate a parent/guardian could educate the child/children at home but its the interaction with other children the learning to share things, eat in the dining room with other children, wait your turn, play kids games with kids (not sisters and brothers), do nativity plays, play tig and tag in the playgroup, etc etc.
I know there will be someone with an arguement "oh they can do that with the neighbours kids", "she eats at the dining table with her siblings" blah blah blah but i remember the difference between my dad giving me driving lessons and a qualified teacher there was no comparison, the discipline from a "qualified teacher" was what i needed.0
