    Replying to my own message...
Just had a slight power cut (the entire house) for about 5 seconds. Started the computer back up and now saying internet access. Any suggestions as to why it had said 'no internet access'?

I've never looked into the actual mechanism the computer uses to work out whether internet access is available but it's reasonable to assume that it tries to contact some external resource (likely a Microsoft one) and if it can get to that then it will show as internet access available but if it can't then it will show as no internet access available. However it is entirely possible that the internet connection is available but for some reason the computer didn't manage to connect to the resource it uses that governs whether it shows as offline or not. This would mean it would show as no internet access when there is, I have seen it being quite slow at times in changing back to showing internet access although it's rare for it to remain wrong.

    I could see it perfectly.

    It was just a joke.

Not a bad one in my opinion. :D

I guessed it was a joke after other people could see my posts.

I think it is a bad joke as I am not computer savvy and thought the techie forum would be a place I could come to for help (which I have done many times and the people here have been wonderful in helping me), not to have a joke played on me.
Also, I am self employed, solely selling online and because of my problem yesterday, was unsure if it would be safe to sign into sensitive information accounts. And when it was assumed no one could read my messages here, I thought things were getting worse.

It's most probably a Windows thing. Mine does it every now and again and eventually realises.

Seems like it. My router had red lights. Strange but true.

A tip for you in future. If you can access websites like this one and start threads and read people's replies, you are connected to the internet.

I never thought I wasn't connected to the internet. I knew I was.
I have had computer problems and thought here's another one when my posts were blank!

Don't worry about it, as someone said it happens often with Windows, nothing to worry about as long as your internet connection actually does work.

Tip for you, don't show signs of frustration to this shower as you will be torn apart like a piece of meat :rotfl:

You don't have to be a computer savvy to sell on eBay. Just some eBay, Paypal and email knowledge.

Thanks for both pieces of advice. This is the last time I'll reply to this thread.

I've been using this forum for years and have never experienced others immaturity on here. I have only experienced friendly, nice and helpful users. I will think twice about getting involved in certain threads/conversations and asking for advice.

    Be nice to all MoneySavers.
