There will come a time when the uk is not an easy option to move here to claim lots of help, but we are not there yetThe thing about chaos is, it's fair.0

It's not that it took me a while to find something on this topic at all. It's the fact that there is new information and data emerging - and it will continue to do so as the problem grows.
There is another thread on this forum if you want to debate that. Personally, I don't really place more value on outrageous comments made by a celebrity chef than true facts and figures.
Though I do wonder who was working in kitchens before 2004.0 -

some other immigrants. UK was never short of them, but then I believe it started off with colonisation of the world. But that would be a topic for a long debate.0 -

The vast majority of immigrants move here to work hard and better their lives, not to "claim lots of help".
I'd be prepared to bet if you made immigrants ineligble for benefits tomorrow you'd not see any reduction in immigration at all.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

I reckon theres about 400 000 immigrants who would emmigrate tomorrow were there benefits to stop today. Of course I'm sure Hamish would say this is right wing propaganda.0 -

what the heck is a "non UK national"?
how many of them are there in the UK?
taking a [bold] assumption that they are all of working age, then:
(a) if there are 5m of these people, 400k unemployed equates to an unemployment rate of, I suppose, 8%, i.e. even higher than the UK average [of about 7.5%].
(b) if there are 10m of them then we're talking 4%, i.e. much lower than the UK average.FACT.0
