Lol Grizzly1911 I believe you would like to tag them? I always wear work cloths and never walk out on the street, so British nationals can think I am working hard.
What a bull****
Seriously guys, so many comments with racial hate here. I only got to the second page and already got quite upset by some comments. I am Polish national. Came here 8 years ago. I had 3 jobs since then. In each of them British manager was hiring me. So the first question you would ask why? Why on earth British person can hire me when apparently 100s of English ppl applying? Hard to say... is it? Maybe because I have a better CV? I have a master degree, which Polish government paid for (yes, in Poland you don't pay tuition fees in national universities). So you get someone with a master degree at no cost. Then for the last 8 years I did not have a single day off sick. Probably some hard headed ppl would not agree, but "sickness culture" have deep roots in British culture. It was pretty evident in every single job I worked so far.
Whenever I was asked to help my employer and work overtime - I did. In the meantime I paid loads of taxes in UK in exchange for my salary. Not a single benefit claimed, not a single day off sick and perhaps people you hear on the streets include a lot of tourists, which come and visit immigrants here. For example our parents coming here regularly at least 3 times a year. Add to that our siblings and friends visiting us. That actually is quite a big boost to tourism too.
Yes, I agree Britain could tighten up immigration to this country, especially in these tough economic times, but that is no reason for stereotyping. People who write about immigrants being drunk in Boston and causing trouble. Did you have no crimes prior us coming here? I, on the other hand live in a place where there is not a lot of immigrants and I see English people doing the same things which some of you describe. The thing is that you see what you want to see and hear what you want to hear.
You blame east european migrants, but before us you complained about Pakistanis, Bangladeshi etc., after us will be Bulgarians and Romanians, after them someone else, at the end if there will be no one else around you will get some Eskimo for sure. There always will be someone (unless government will do some drastic changes) and we all have to learn to live peacefully and accept our differences.0 -

Don't need to tag them easily visible in several groups of males. Idly passing the time of day, middweek with each other in a grimy city centre pedestrian precinct. This is in area with above the national average unemployment. There was no suggestion that any of those I have seen were drinking or doing anything untoward. This isn't something that was apparent 20 years ago and is an observation.
Not family groups taking in the scenery or points of historical interest, not carry bags of shopping.
In my working life I have never had the time to hang around in groups anywhere, without a purpose or function.
Is this something you do?

No body is blaming immigrants for wanting to come here. Government policy, or lack of it, in controlling mass immigration in a measured fashion is the issue. If skilled workers can't be found then it would be insane not to allow those to be filled through immigration.
It seems bizarre to berate the unemployed for not finding work whilst at the same time keeping a door wide open. We have a welfare, infrastructure and housing problems in this country I am yet to be convinced that mass immigration will ameliorate any of those."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... I believe people can apply to study in any EU country, as long as they comply with their terms. Is this correct?
How practical would it be for a student from UK to go and study in Poland? I accept they would have to cover living costs etc, but that is no different to here.0 -
Excellent post...puts things in perspective for the little Englander bigots. If we believed them Boston, Lincolnshire is the new Sodom or Gommorah! East European vagrants sleeping in the streets no less:rotfl:Absolute tosh of course! In the 1950's and 60's it was the West Indians getting the stick, in the 70's it was the Irish and now the satanic hordes are coming from Eastern Europe!
Soon our next generation will be posting up the signs of reality that there is ' No Room at the Inn'
Maybe the economy in Eastern Europe through whatever means will have a dramatic turnaround of trade and British workers will be flooding to their country for jobs because we will soon be running short of jobs the way things are going.0 -
Interesting.

One of the main issues is that British youth and their parents don't tend to like to go abroad to study.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Why do the British plumbers believe they're entitled to such a good wage? They're not. So if you're struggling for work, perhaps move to Poland. I hear there's a shortage over there.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I actually like to take a rucksack for shopping. It is better for your back. Never realised that that can indicate that I am in town for no purpose
Not sure about your working life, but at present my working pattern is 4 on 4 off. So every 4 days I have 4 days to do nothing unless there is an overtime at work. So in my time off we actually like to go out for an hour or so just to have a walk as it is nice and healthy. To be honest my parents did this too back at home, so perhaps I would say this is something we do.
On the other hand (talking about cultural differences) the difference is where I lived in Poland there were 44 flats in a block, and I knew almost everyone by name. People often go for a walk together or something. Everyone knows each other. In here I think any people like to stay behind the closed door at home and the main socialising point is friday/saturday night in the pub.0 -
Interesting.

Tbh Kabayiri never thought of that. First hurdle would be for English person to learn Polish language. Someone else wrote that many universities offer studies in English language, but I think this only applies to private unis where they charge fees. In Poland is almost opposite to England. Private high paid unis are considered better than government run unis (apart of few with long heritage).
From technical point of view I would say that this would be possible.0 -

Similar things happens in every aspect of our life. All people are shouting about being British, buying British etc. but they continue to shop online with companies who don't even pay their tax here. Why? Simply because they are cheaper. Then all those people forget that in this way they almost damaging British companies.
It is a demand and supply that rule the economy.0
