My parents (in-laws) have finally received their refund of £990.00 via BACS. I will now await the SAR and then take it from there. I'm pleased that they have finally been refunded.

However, Mr Stanford continues to libel me on public forums and a seperate case for damages may be in the pipeline.
    What a load of dunderheids!
  • Yesterday my wife was persuaded by Ifonic to provide her credit card details for PPI claims and approx £700 deducted from her credit card. We are trying to get the money refunded and the PPI claims stopped. I have seen some very helpful posts on this site, but am a little worried that we won't get the £700 refunded. Has anyone been successful with refunds and if so any advice on what to do?

If you've used a credit card to make the payment, then your credit card provider will refund the money.

  • I received a call from these con artists yesterday.
Normally I tell these sort of calls I'm not interested but thought I'd humour them on this occasion to see what they were claiming to be able to do.
After telling them of all the various types of credit cards, loans etc... without giving them any real information, they said they were going to be able to claim back something like £12,000 for me even after they have taken off their 22%. I can only assume this figure was just something they made up from the basic information I gave them as I didn’t tell them anything specific like account or card numbers. I know the connectivity of IT systems has massively improved lately but to retrieve that kind of information from 10 different companies in a minute or so.... Really!
It was only after the lovely large figure had been dangled like a carrot that there was any mention of the upfront fee of £99 per claim. Rather conveniently with the number of cards etc... I have, this came to £990 which seems to be the standard fee they like to con people out of going by the other post on this topic.
As it turned out, at this point of the conversation someone I was waiting for turned up for a meeting so I asked if they could call back again today to discuss this further. The guy was very pushy and desperate to get my card details which made me think “Ah, here we go.” but as I didn't have the time I told him to call back.
Although I wasn't going to give him the best part of a grand upfront anyway, this gave me time to do a bit of research and thanks to this forum (and others) I had my suspicions confirmed.
As promised, they called back a few minutes ago and when I stated that the law says they must provide written documentation before taking any upfront fees, he said they only take a pre-authorisation and don't take any money for 72 hours. I pointed out that IF they can get all the money they claim they can, their 22% would be something like £3,500 so why do they require any money upfront? To which he gave me some flannel about it being your commitment as people don’t always return the paperwork etc... If it was genuine and you could get £12k, I think virtually everyone would manage to get the paperwork back to them, don’t you?
In the end I told him that I wasn't going to give them any Credit Card details until I had seen something in writing at which point he hung up without saying goodbye.
That says its all, if they can’t be courteous enough to end the conversation nicely when you have said “No” then they are only interested in the “sale” and getting your money.
  • I feel I have been scammed by ifonic claims today for £990! Feeling very stupid and very angry with them and myself, I have loads of these calls and usually after the first few mins i say im not interested and hang up but today the call was different and i felt i could trust them and felt at ease and they could claim £10,000 back for me i thought yes ok i have not done it already so yes they sound good i will use them, but while my 12yr old and 6yr old are fighting and my 8 month old waking up crying, i wasnt really paying full attention anymore and stupidly ended up handing over my credit card details which i would never ever usually do and now feel very stupid as no longer than half an hour after i was called from the fraud department for my card to say £990 had been taken on my card by ifonic claims, i did not understand that this would happen upfront at all so they have stopped my card but as i gave my details i need to put in a dispute and as soon as any paperwork arrives from ifonic i will be cancelling it with them also and asking for an explanation and refund. Feeling so so stupid!

It would seem they are being investigated by the MoJ. Might be worth complaining.

The more evidence they have the more likely they are to take action!

  • First of all can I just say WOW at the amount of comments on here about Ifonic Claims, weren't aware that so many people have been ripped off by them.
Let me start by saying I'm an ex employee of this so called company,I started working there under the impression they were a great company out to refund alot of people money they were rightfully due,I was told that they specialise in gaining back the misselling of PPI for there 'customers',my job was to call people, tell them we've been given a list of names and postcodes of those eligble to put claims forward if they have had any Loans,Credit Cards,Store Cards,Mortgages,Car Finance Loans,Catalouge Loans.
Before I took the job I hadn't worked in phone sales so weren't aware of the actual things that took place just to make a quick buck,it was only when I realised I was actually cold calling and told to lie to get a good 'Lead' I realised the company were only out for themselves and actually didn't give a s**t about there customers or the so called refunds they promised so many oon a daily week to week basis.
The majority of the people who work there are VERY good at pulling the strings and do what ever it takes to pull the right ones to not only rip off the customer but also gain a few perks for them selves, for example..there's a "league table" for the rip merchants..the more 'leads' u get foe the week the bigger the bonus.
It even went as far as a select few rubbing there hands together when a OAP was on the other end of the phone! Customers being told to get there cut up Credit Cards out of the rubbish bin so they could get a sale! I even heard a convo where one disabled man was asked to crawl across the room and obtain his Credit Card information!.
One person even added extra 'claims' onto lists just to get himself extra bonus' on pay day.
I was told that the people we were calling are on our list because they are eligble for refunds but hadn't put a claim forward, and I wondered what the confusion was when I asked if they had taken out any finacial agreements over the past 20 years an got a reply of 'No' among other swear words and abuse, the company is a joke, its a company based on greed, everybody who work there are driven by greed and the prospect of being 'employee of the week' by telling as many lies as possible in the most laid back manner as possible, the managers get angry when targets aren't met, which in one case a lovely young lady who I got to know quite well walked out in tears and never returned.
DONT BE FOOLES BY THERE LIES,DONT TAKE COLD CALLS,IFONIC CLAIMS ARE A FARCE AND ARE ONLY OUT TO RIP YOU OFF AND LAUGH IN YOURE FACE WHILE DOING IT!
  • So that I know whether to make a claim back from my credit card provider are you saying that I won't be getting any of my PPI claims? I called ifonics the other day and they said my claims were going through. Do I give up? Thanks.

They are a company that will generate a complaint in many different areas. Whether there is a reason or not. They will also charge up front fees for those complaints. That is a big no no.

However, if you have paid the money and they have put in the complaint then you should put it down to experience and not make the same mistake again.
