Ifonics yep ive heard of them. they cold called me and like an idiot i gave them credit card details after lots of assurances that no money would be taken from my credit card until the conclusion of a successful claim. lo and behold 729.00 taken from credit card. Tried to cancel but lots of delaying tactics to take me past the 14 day cooling off period, so no money coming back. In conclusion I would say that they are a bunch of crooks working very cleverly and just within the law so dont be taken in by them
As per previous posts, contact your credit card issuer and also report to Action FraudWhat a load of dunderheids!0 -
Many thanks Magpie cottage. I have reported it to actionfraud-police .co.uk and contacted my credit card Co.0

I have had these snakes on the phone this evening trying to fob me off with promises of £7250 for an upfront fee of £792 which I was not told about until later in the conversation. I also got told that they would need my credit card details to activate the investigation. I stupidly gave my card details over (whilst being hounded by a 3 year old and a dog)!! I was then told I was being transferred to someone else to sort the final part of the agreement but as soon as she told me it was for £792 I said I was not happy to go ahead with the verification!! She told me she would get the advisor Steven to phone me back tomorrow. I shall be telling him where he can poke his job and company and have already alerted my bank into what has happened just incase they tried to take the money anyway. So my card has been cancelled and they have said that they will not allow them to take the money. I would also like to say that this company is also trading under the name 'Get Claiming' so be careful0

Hi there, I'm new to the site and hoping someone can help!
I visited my grandparents today to find my grandma in tears, you guessed it, she's been scammed.
It seems this company called her in November and on the promise of over £4,000 compensation they have charged her £495 upfront fee.
My grandma has only just received her monthly bank statement today and so is over the 14 day cooling off period.
She had no idea they were going to charge her upfront, the impression she got on the phone was that this would be taken at the end and that the bank details she gave on the phone she presumed were so they could pay into her bank upon a successful claim.
My grandma can't remember when she posted the signed contract, she knows she posted something to them on Wednesday 11th December but can't remember if she posted anything earlier than that, as her copy of the contract she signed and dated the 27th November. The £495 was taken on the 4th December, so it's unclear at this stage if it was advanced fee fraud.
I tried calling the numbers on the letters 4/5 times and just get an American voice saying the call can't be connected.
I've advised my grandma to go into the bank tomorrow but I'm unsure if she's going to be able to reclaim this money. When I left her today she was distraught as it is the week before Christmas and this payment has taken her into her overdraft and she has bills that she can't pay. A 69 year old woman in tears because of this company!
She just wants to cancel everything and get her money back, what are the chances?0 -
She needs to tell her bank that the payment is unauthorised and report the matter to ActionFraud.0

Hello I have been lurker and haven't contributed to this forum before so my bad.
Great forum and thanks for the contributors in this thread, I'm Sorry to hijack the thread but its the best place for our issue with ifonic.
My Partner had a cold call a two months back, from ifonic PLC from Swansea but she requested details for claiming to be sent to our home, I was unaware of this and she filled out info of details for five banks to start a claim (I don't know if it was a contract), ifonic sent her lots of letters to get her to sign five letters of attorney which she hasn't given back (I got told a month ago about the PPI claim and told my partner not to send any info after seeing this thread), the banks have sent a few letters and loads of statements to us and they didn't want to send it to ifonic and two banks written back and and two have payed out a week ago to my misses.
In the last few days we have got a few calls to send letter of authority and sign the questionnaire forms back and the statements but I am not happy to deal with them. Its not a coincidence that today got a letter asking for 22% fee + VAT to be payed, I believe without signed questionnaire's or the letters of authority they jumped the gun and technically are not entitled to said fees. Ironic have sent a Proforma invoice for monies_
How odd:
Ifonics PLC / ltd are also known as 'getclaiming' the parent company is Cerys-Angharad Limited. Google comes up with a tech company that sells phones and tech, their personnel are named in earlier in this thread and are base within 50 meters of my work place in London W1 why do they deal with PPI looks doggy.Thank Fossils for fuel!!!0 -

Raise an immediate chargeback with your Credit Card company and also report this company to Action Fraud.
They could also be in trouble if they have directly called you. See post 108 above. So please also complain to the MoJ - hereWhat a load of dunderheids!0 -
and FYI Action Fraud seem to be the police department who deal with online frauds across the country. maybe phone initiated fraud comes under this as well.illegitimi non carborundum0
