I am in the same boat as you Viking. We put our property on with Househop in November 2012. We paid £780 for just shy of 3 months it looks like . The email I got wasn't even titled!

I have spoken to EMOOV this morning to see if them taking on Househops client list is true and they said it is. They also said that this would cover the listing on rightmove, calls etc....when I mentioned the new board they said it would cost extra :(

If you paid by Credit Card or Debit Card you may be able to get some money back as you may be protected. I did a bank transfer from my HSBC account to their HSBC account so have no chance of getting my money back.

    I feel like crying.

    Bon

Money up front to them not for me they may take on househops clients and collapse, same as househop

OK, so how will you choose another agent, then?

choose a well-established EA with an office on a local street, would be my advice.

We only paid for their services last week! We have already had some viewings with another booked in and we have no idea what is happening with them. We are happy to switch to Emoov and spoke to them this morning, just gutted we are losing potential buyers as it was only listed last Friday.
    With regards to this quote:
"The package I paid for stated that I was getting a 12 month listing with rightmove , therefore they should have paid rightmove for 12 months listing upfront" I think that without the services associated with this it is useless as how would you get the viewings arranged etc?!

Am very frustrated but do not blame the company, they have been prompt, professional and friendly, just perhaps bit off more than they could chew.

Jules have you replied to John to tell him you are happy to go to EMOOV and pay the £99 + VAT? And if so has he replied?

Yes, I emailed this morning, still waiting a response though. Russell at Emoov said once he gets the info and authorisation from John it should only take a couple of days to list under Emoov. Mostly gutted as the people who viewed may want to make offers and then we wouldn't need to switch. AArrggh!

I think that Househop would have paid Rightmove on some contract basis of say weekly amounts rather that paying for the full term.

It would possibly been taken over a Band Width contract if the exist.

This is where you takes your chance in today's economic market and I'm sure that Househop have been unlucky as indeed you have been. Very unfortunate for all involved.

What caused Househop to cease trading was probably all down to the very slow moving market at the moment and too many chasing so few sales. Only my opinion.

At the moment it is much safer staying with the EA in the Hight Street at least you are safer. Not any consulation I know.

Can I ask what the £780 is actually paying for? Is that the price you pay until they find you a buyer?

Why on earth do you need to pay anything up front when selling a house??
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
